As we reported earlier this month, the Business of Art Center was enjoying some "interest" from ArtPlace, a project funded by public and private enterprises to award money to organizations throughout the country "working to transform their communities by driving vibrancy through investments in the arts."

Today, the BAC announced it is one of the 128 finalists in the U.S. and the only finalist in Colorado. The grant recipients will be announced in May.
ArtPlace donated $11.5 million to 34 organizations last year, and this year it expects to award $15 million.
Should the BAC win a grant, it says it will put the funds toward another community art effort, like last year's Chair Project.

In other BAC news, Indy publisher John Weiss will attend the Feb. 1 Big Picture Discussion Group meeting, starting at 6 p.m. While he will discuss the Indy's goals within the arts and culture communities here, Weiss plans mostly to listen and take feedback. The session is free and open to the public.
