Entertainment / Music / Reverb Weekend blues update: John-Alex Mason and Alvin Youngblood Hart

It's not often that a Grammy-winning artist plays a performance space as intimate as Marmalade at Smokebrush, so if you haven't yet gotten tickets to see Alvin Youngblood Hart there Saturday, go here now. Not only will you save $5 off admission at the door, but you'll actually be able to get in if the show sells out in advance.
That said, there are also plenty of incentives to join the two celebrations on behalf of John-Alex Mason on Sunday, not least of which is the fact that donations will go to the scholarship fund that's been set up to continue the late bluesman's work educating young people about the music he so dearly loved. Local musicians will be performing at Shove Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m., and then head over to Manitou's Venue 515 for an after-celebration beginning at 8.
And while promoters aren't confirming the final lineup of musicians, there's a very good chance that a national artist or two may drop by. In fact, if you check Alvin Youngblood Hart's concert schedule on Pollstar, you'll notice that he's listed as playing a "private function" in Manitou on Sunday.
Certainly, Hart and Mason admired each other's music and played together on a number of occasions, including a concert celebrating what would have been Robert Johnson's 100th birthday up in Denver last May.
