Larry Liston picks up another endorsement in Senate Bid

Posted By on Fri, Jan 27, 2012 at 5:05 PM

Rep. Larry Liston, whom we reported earlier this week secured the endorsement of Attorney General John Suthers, has won another endorsement today.

This one comes from his state House colleague Rep. Mark Waller.

Waller, a fellow Republican, represents Colorado Springs in District 10. He is also the assistant majority leader.

Liston, who is term-limited in the House, is challenging Owen Hill to represent Senate District 10, a district that was left without an incumbent after the reapportionment process.

From Waller's press release:

Assistant House Majority Leader Mark Waller today endorsed Rep. Larry Liston as an experienced conservative leader who will best serve Senate District 10 citizens and business owners.

“I know Larry Liston as an outstanding conservative leader who understands the complexity of legislation and the process,” said Rep. Waller, R-Colorado Springs. “Larry Liston has a proven record of helping business — fighting taxes and regulations.”

“In these challenging times, we need Larry’s experience and leadership in the Colorado Senate,” declared Waller.

Liston will officially announce his campaign for Senate District 10 this Saturday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. in the Centennial Banquet Hall at Sky Sox Stadium.

On hand will be Colorado Attorney General John Suthers, Assistant House Majority Leader Waller and Rep. Bob Gardner as well as citizens and business owners, who believe Liston as the right stuff — proven, conservative leadership.

“I am gratified by the endorsement of Assistant Majority Leader Mark Waller with whom I have been privileged to work with in the state House,” said Liston. “Having also worked with Mark to elect conservative Republican candidates — a goal we’ve shared for years — his endorsement of my proven conservative leadership is greatly valued and appreciated.”

Rep. Liston, R-Colorado Springs, has represented House District 16 since 2005, and currently serves as the Chairman of the House Economic and Business Development Committee. The legislator has also served on the State, Veteran and Military Affairs Committee since 2005.

Liston received the Distinguished Legislator Award of 2011 from the United Veterans Committee of Colorado for his unfailing dedication to men and women in uniform and the veterans of Colorado.

In 2010, Liston was named Legislator of the Year by the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and he received the Colorado Civil Justice League’s “Common Sense in the Courtroom” award for the third time.

A proven conservative leader, Liston has fought for gun rights, states’ rights, unborn children and free enterprise, and against state government overspending and taxing.

“I am committed to continuing to communicate and work with constituents and business owners in Senate District 10 to cut the red tape, regulations and taxes that impede job growth and economic recovery,” said Liston.
