Well, to the communications staff's credit, this sort of last minute notification on press conferences shouldn't be a problem for the rest of the year.

The staff handed out list of all press conference days and times today. The next meeting is April 10 at 11 a.m.

Communications Chief Cindy Aubrey waited until today.
  • Communications Chief Cindy Aubrey waited until the last minute.

Sure, if you attended the last Mayor's Press Conference, as the Indy did, then you got the heads up that the next one would likely be today.

But there wasn't a whole lot of us media folks at the last press conference. And that means that a lot of local media just heard this morning that the mayor's next press conference is today. At 11 a.m.

Is it just me, or in the spirit of transparency does it make sense to send out that notice a little earlier? I mean the city communications department has been planning this for weeks. I would think a few days notice wouldn't be much to ask.

Instead, this landed in my inbox at 8:16 a.m.:
