When we ran the ballot for the inaugural Indy Music Awards last year, we were surprised to get more than 1,000 first-week voters. By the time voting closed, 2,500 Indy readers had cast ballots for their favorite local musicians.
After that, some 1,200 of you turned out for the first Indy Music Awards Festival, where 15 of the winners performed for free on three stages.
So we figured, hey, why not do it all again?
The ballot for the second Indy Music Awards will appear in the paper and online starting June 20, and will include 10 additional categories. And that means even more acts will be performing when this year's festival takes place the Thursday after Labor Day.
