Though it seems like the Leechpit's just getting settled in its two-year-old digs, it's soon going to be time to move again: Colorado College, which owns the building, will not be renewing the company's lease, writes owner Adam Leech.
"According to the college, they want the building for a 'student activity center,'" he says in an e-mail. "I assume they have other plans."
Indeed they do, confirms spokeswoman Leslie Weddell.
"The building is owned by the college," she writes. "They have a two-year lease on the property, and the lease will not be renewed.
"The office of student life is interested in finding space students can use for things such as a small band practice area or creative student activities involving smaller groups. The college is interested in using that building, as it would make a great space for those types of student activities."
As you can see from the Facebook posts, Leech, a former Indy columnist, would rather stay.
"At this point, we are looking for other location options, and have every desire to maintain our presence in the downtown area," he writes. "That being said, the availability of desirable locations leaves much to be desired, and I have quite a few 'plan b's' in order."
