Mission the first: UpaDowna

Posted by on Wed, Oct 10, 2012 at 6:44 PM

In this week's Side Dish column, I mention soon-to-open coffee cafe Mission Coffee Roasters 's plans to work with local nonprofits and artists on custom-label coffee bags.

One of those projects will be called the Colorado Artist Blend, and here's a look at what that program looked like at Mission's former Baltimore, Md., shop, High Ground.

Colorado Springs-area artists are encouraged to contact Mission owner Brett Bixler if they're interested in promoting their work on future Mission bags. And here's a sneak peek at one of the first local nonprofits' labels that Mission has already had designed, for UpaDowna, which is co-run by Indy beer writer Steve Hitchcock:

UpaDowna Mission Coffee
  • The big blank space will, of course, be filled by whatever bean is utilized. Early indications are that the UpaDowna blend will be some sort of a French roast.

Look for this bag for sale at Mountain Equipment Recyclers soon, or wherever else the Yeti roams.
