At my house last night, we were trying to watch a television show when we heard this loud hum that could mean only one thing. Helicopters were flying over.
Sure enough, today we get the following press release that more chopper training is about to begin.
Fort Carson will host approximately 290 Soldiers and 29 helicopters from the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, based out of Fort Riley, Kan., for high altitude aviation training from Nov. 26 to Dec. 14.
HAMET will allow the 1st CAB to train for expeditionary operations, ensure deployment capabilities and test training readiness in the mountains of Colorado, terrain comparable to the rugged mountains and extreme altitudes found in Afghanistan.
The 1st CAB will train with Kiowas, Apaches, and transport and medevac Blackhawks, and will train at pre-designated locations in the mountains west of Fort Carson.
Complaints should be directed to the Fort Carson Public Affairs Office at (719) 526-9849, 1256 or 1246. Online information and noise complaint email instructions are available at http://www.carson.army.mil/FortCarson2010/text/noise-environmental-process.pdf.
