Silver Tongue Devil calling it quits

silver tongue devil saloon, closing
The area music scene will have to get by with one less venue this coming winter.

Scott Hunt, owner and manager of the Silver Tongue Devil Saloon, has informed us that the Green Mountain Falls venue is closing due to financial constraints.

The news comes as a particular disappointment in light of the fact that the saloon's music bookings had become more ambitious over the last year, bringing in national touring acts like indie-rock hitmakers Cracker and New Orleans' prestigious Joe Krown Trio.

The venue also hosted a packed Creating a Newsense reunion to benefit Waldo Canyon Fire relief efforts back in August.

The Silver Tongue Devil's farewell show will be this coming Saturday, featuring Denver's premier "fiddle-rock band," James and the Devil and, as Hunt notes, ""$2 drink specials until the liquor is gone."
