The election to recall Colorado Senate President John Morse will move forward, now that a citizen complaint has been dismissed.

Secretary of State Scott Gessler's office has rejected a complaint from citizen Catherine Kleinsmith, which stated that the petitions to recall Morse were invalid because they omitted constitutionally required language.

In her decision, Deputy Secretary of State Suzanne Staiert stated that she did not believe language stating that a successor would be elected in Morse's place was legally required, among other explanations. The entire decision can be read here.

The Secretary of State's office has also rejected a request for recusal by supporters of Sen. Angela Giron, who is also facing a recall. Supporters stated that Gessler had shown bias against Giron in statements made a Republican Party event.

Both Giron and Morse are facing recalls due to votes on gun control legislation.
