The July 1 flood pushed this SUV into a home.

The floods that hit Manitou Springs on July 1 claimed three homes and damaged 10 others.

According El Paso County Assessor Mark Lowderman, five of the damaged homes lost half of their value, while the other five lost a quarter of their value. In total, the flood caused $681,435 in home market losses. (Insurance claims, which include other possessions, could be much higher.)

The storm on July 1 mainly affected Williams Canyon, which flooded the Manitou neighborhood below it with water, mud and debris. It was considered a moderate storm, but rain fell heavily on the Waldo Canyon burn scar, which can absorb very little water and is extremely prone to erosion.
