Events: Honey ale, goat for dinner and more

I like to imagine that somewhere out there, some guy just said, "Man, I wonder what's going on in the next couple weeks in the local food and drink world — the cool stuff I may not want to miss?"

And aside from the fact that my imagination clearly sucks, I dedicate the following heads-ups to that guy. Even if I know deep down he's not real.

Let's begin:

• Our area Rock Bottom released a new summer honey ale last week that's made with local honey from Schmidt Apiaries. A call to the restaurant confirmed that supplies should hold out until late August, which is when a list of summer specials on the food menu will also expire. Those eats include a habanero shrimp appetizer and a Cabo Mahi (Mahi) served with pineapple pico relish.

The Warehouse will host a five-course Pinot Noir dinner this Thursday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m. Seats are $60 plus tax/tip, and here's a look at the menu: menu.pdf

• On Saturday, July 27, from noon to 3 p.m., Bliss Bakery will host its second annual community celebration event, this year renamed "Community Rises" in honor of both the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest fires. A Whoopie Pie eating contest will be held along with prize giveaways, kids activities and other food-centric happenings — all to raise money for Care & Share Food Bank. Everything will take place in the Rockrimoon Safeway Plaza.

• Thursday, August 1 brings New Belgium Brewing's 4th annual Clips Beer and Film Tour to America the Beautiful park at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and around 15 New Belgium beers will be available on tap in 3-ounce samples ($1.25) or 12-ounce pours ($5), with all the beer-money raised going to benefit Medicine Wheel Trail Advocates and UpaDowna. Front Range Barbecue and McCabe's Tavern will vend food products as well, as 20 short films are screened as the central entertainment.

A Joyful Noise Farm will play host for another goat dinner in tandem with Full Circle Cuisine at 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 3. Seats are $65, which includes complimentary "adult beverages." Here's a look at that menu: menu_2.pdf
