Two Springs Council members are holding town halls this week.
First, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Councilor Helen Collins
will hold a District 4 Town Hall meeting at the Satellite Hotel and Condominiums, Brown Room, 411 Lakewood Circle.
Topics include public safety, roads and citizen concerns.
Collins opposed funding
for another community solar gardens program, and recently served on a committee
that delved into the city's capital needs, which total some $1.3 billion.
From 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Councilor Jill Gaebler
hosts a District 5 Town Hall meeting at Ruth Holley Library, 685 N. Murray Blvd.
She hopes to field questions about the 2014 budget, downtown development and the “City for Champions” proposal, roads and other concerns.
“I believe communication and public input is necessary for effective governance," Gaebler says in a release. "I look forward to meeting my constituents and hearing their concerns about our city.”
Gaebler recently sponsored a resolution
of support for City For Champions, which failed to gain enough support for passage. In addition, Gaebler has volunteered
to be the "champion" for sustainability programs in the city, which has no sustainability office.
And next Wednesday, Sept. 25, Council President Keith King
holds court at 6:30 p.m. at 1628 W. Bijou St. Topics the 2014 Budget, the homeless and Bancroft Park, stormwater and citizen concerns.
