Pretty much anybody downtown has a Scoop story, even me. It's not a great one — I first met Brian Nemeth after being startled by his yelling obscenities at his screen in the computer lab at Pikes Peak Community College's downtown campus — but it's a Scoop story.

Finally, after we've waited three years from the original announcement and watched one of the primary backers return to New York City in search of culinary accomplishment, comes the story of Scoop, an autistic local man and near-legend who yearns to anchor the 10:30 p.m. desk on FOX News.

"It took 3 years to complete the project but its now done and online to view," reads an e-mail from the producing Mayhem Factory. "There were several obstacles in the way that ended up pushing the release date back. ... When we kept finding out that many people had heard of the project and were excited to see it, it then got revived with director Christopher Chaos taking charge and adding PPCC video production teacher, Christian Wright to the project."

The result, Finding Nemeth: The Brian "Scoop" Nemeth Story, is a 46-minute dive into the heart of Colorado Springs. Nemeth is an impossible person not to like, but just watch him compose news segments and you see a demanding creator, often yelling out to cut filming. At one point, he frustratedly asks of his collegiate crew, "Are we rocking and rolling or what?"

Of course, that particular segment takes an interesting turn into a story that combined salmon and Sarah Palin's vagina, but hey, that's just how Scoop rolls.

Throughout, we get a well-intended look at somebody most of us probably know dealing with stuff that most of us probably don't know a lot about. If anything, you just have to admire the man's style. Here he is in one bit, doing a walk-and-talk down Tejon Street:

"Restaurants, malls, shops, and other business are hurtin' right now, and our federal government is not doing a damn thing to help get the economy back on track," he says. "So it's up to us to come up with some creative ways to help take that recession and stick a fork in its ass."
