Fine Arts Center to seek new president and CEO, as Sam Gappmayer resigns position for new pursuits
COLORADO SPRINGS (Nov. 5, 2013) – Sam Gappmayer announced to the Board of Directors Tuesday that he was stepping down as president and CEO of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center (FAC).
“We’re sorry to see Sam go, but we feel fortunate to have had his steady presence and careful stewardship,” said Board President Jim Raughton. “We hope the entire community will join us in thanking Sam and wishing him well in his next endeavors.”
For five years, Sam has served with distinction as the leader of the FAC, and under his watch the FAC has produced some of its finest and most popular theater, most provocative exhibits and most engaging classes. Also, with the help of the FAC staff, he created some of the FAC’s most integrated multi-disciplinary programs around single subjects, such as “conflict and resolution” and “family.”
"The Fine Arts Center is a wonderful organization with an amazing history,” Sam said Tuesday. “I have been honored and privileged to serve with the staff, members of our community and many board members. I am confident the FAC will continue to do great things in the years and decades to come."
Sam’s last day will be Nov. 22.
He is leaving to pursue another opportunity, but agreements with his future employer prevent him from elaborating at this time. We sincerely thank Sam for his service to this institution and for his role in contributing to the heritage of this long-standing community pillar, and know that the community joins us in wishing Sam and his family all the best.
The FAC board and staff plan to conduct a comprehensive national search for Sam’s successor.
