If you're a big enough hipster to own both an iPhone
and an electric car
, I have great news for you: You can use your phone to download an app that will tell you where to charge your car.
Personally, I'm really interested to know how many people in the Springs will be impacted by this little innovation. Two? 20? Who knows.
Whoever you are, you're welcome.
New Mobile App Helps Electric Car Owners
Find Charging Stations
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Electric vehicle owners can now find the nearest charging station, including the City’s two electric vehicle charging spots, by using a free iPhone mobile application.
The Alternative Fueling Station Locator App allows users to select an alternative fuel and find the 20 nearest stations within a 30-mile radius. Users can view the locations on a map or on a list with addresses, phone numbers and hours of operation. More than 15,000 stations across the country are included. The app draws information from Clean Cities’ Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC), which houses the most comprehensive, up-to-date database of alternative fueling stations in the United States.
The City’s bright green electric vehicle charging station serves two parking spots and is located on the lower level (east entrance) of the City Administration Building Parking Garage at 130 South Nevada Ave. It is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and usage is free (regular garage fees apply).
