In our story this week
about the Denver-based company NexGen
drilling a deep test well for oil at the eastern edge of El Paso County
, an operation that could involve fracking
, we talked to Diana May
, the county's oil and gas local government designee, who said she'd yet to hear a single objection to NexGen's bid.
So much for that.
In just the last day, May says, she's received calls and emails about NexGen's operations in the county. Fortuitously, there may be an even better way for people to make their feelings known.
May leads periodic county oil and gas meetings, with representatives from industry and local government, to review activity. The public is invited to attend those meetings and ask questions as well as voice concerns. The next meeting, at which a NexGen representative is scheduled to attend, will be held in Colorado Springs this Wednesday, Feb. 5
, at 2 p.m. in the Pikes Peak Conference Room of Centennial Hall
, 200 S. Cascade Ave.
