Collecting Colorado Collective

Posted By on Wed, Mar 5, 2014 at 3:29 PM

Allow me to be absolutely transparent in this posting, as I am part of the subject matter about which I'm discussing. I don't mean it to come off as advertorial in any way, but I would like to extend a thank-you and shine a little light on something about which you may be unaware.

You may recall this article in the INDY in early January, penned by Kirsten Akens, and centered on the new-to-town online publication called Colorado Collective. (Or CoCo, not to be confused with Coco, the Springs Cupcake Truck.)

The group remains underway with an ambitious Indiegogo campaign, primarily "seeking funding to help compensate our staff for their time and talent."

They have 11 days to go toward a $10,000 goal and certainly can use some support.

Personally, I wish to thank CoCo's editor-in-chief Kelley Heider, who interviewed me and my fellow photographer and travel companion in India, Anthony Delao Adams (or just Tony) last week ahead of our gallery showing, Two India, this upcoming Friday at S.P.Q.R.

Her article can be found here, and it offers much more insight into the backstory of my and Tony's recent Exposure Trip with Yobel International, who will receive 10 percent of sales revenue from Two India

Whereas in my cover story last week, I focused my writing on sources abroad, Heider focused in specifically on our joint photography display and our personal experiences abroad.

For anyone who may have found themselves wanting to know more about the behind-the-lens (and reporter's-notebook) experience — and couldn't make it to last night's talk at Cafe 225 — I'd encourage you to check out her story, both as a further exposé on India ultimately, but also as a display of why CoCo might be deserving of your support on Indiegogo.

Obviously I'm biased. So do what you will with this info. Or just enjoy Tony's pretty pic below.
