Mayor Steve Bach says he hasn't decided whether to seek a second four-year term next year.

During a news briefing on a variety of topics on Tuesday, we asked Bach about his future political plans, in light of others' interest in becoming mayor. Namely, Attorney General John Suthers, El Paso County Commissioner Amy Lathen and State Rep. Bob Gardner.

"I will make the decision this fall. I have not spent enough time on it yet," Bach said, noting he decided to run the first time in November 2010, five months before the April 2011 election.

If that's the case, he might be the last one to announce his candidacy, should he decide to run. Both Lathen and Gardner have said they'll make a decision this summer, while Suthers says he'll make up his mind by Labor Day.

It's worth noting that after Bach gave his 30-minute state of the city speech last week, the audience of more than 600 stayed planted in their chairs, unlike prior years when Bach received a standing ovation.

Bach's time as mayor has been marked by conflict with City Council over a number of topics, including budget matters, storm water drainage solutions, utilities and tourism venture City for Champions.
