Volunteer at Earthship Village

Posted By on Mon, Jun 30, 2014 at 12:23 PM

A few weeks ago, we reported on the impending arrival of Earthship Village Colorado. For anyone interested in getting more information about owning one of the proposed homes, RE/MAX agent Sue Myers will hold a followup meeting on Saturday, July 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at PPLD's East Library

She'll present on opportunities for purchasing a lot in "Phase 1" (the first 15 lots). If you're gung-ho for round 1, shoot Myers an email at smyers@remax.net. The East Library holds about 40 people, so contact the EVC ASAP to reserve a spot. Topics will include mortgages, insurance, water and other things you might want to know before commit to owing an Earthship.

But if you're not ready to become captain of an Earthship just yet, there's two opportunities on Sunday, July 13 to help by harvesting tires: Volunteers will meet at 10 a.m. at Boulder's Bleating Hearts Sanctuary (contact blythe@earthshipvillagecolorado.com for directions) to load them up. Then, volunteers will convene at 4 p.m. on the EVC property to unload. Contact Blythe to commit to one or both times.

Collecting tires will not only de-clutter the sanctuary, but provide thermal mass for the newly constructed Earthships.

If you haven't already, take a tour here to see what Earthships look like inside. And here are some pictures from inventor and pioneer Michael Reynolds' presentation at PPLD's East Library on June 14:
