Colorado Springs Utilities is hosting the 2014 National Gas Rodeo sponsored by Midwest Energy Association (MEA) on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Goose Gossage Sports Complex. This is the first time the rodeo is being held outside of Fairview Heights, Illinois. The event is free and open to the public.
Springs Utilities’ natural gas employees won't be riding broncos, roping calves or wrestling steers, but will be competing alongside 50 elite gas crews from across the United States. The competition will include six separate, timed and judged activities. It is anticipated that approximately 600 people will convene in Colorado Springs for the event.
"This rodeo is an opportunity to display in a public setting, the first class, reliable service that we provide to our customers every day," said Tim Ellefson, energy construction operations and maintenance crew supervisor for Springs Utilities. Ellefson is also the chair of the National Gas Rodeo Planning Committee. "Our customers and employees will get to visually see the skill, accuracy and speed of our workforce in a fun setting."
Family friendly festivities include children’s play area, vendors and concessions.
