With the glorious weather being visited upon the region, what better time is there to join Richard Skorman
on one of his guided daily hikes through Strawberry Fields open space, which start today.
Skorman, former Springs vice mayor who's served on the Parks Advisory Board and the Trails, Open Space and Parks Working Committee, is pushing for the city
to not trade the 189-acre open space to The Broadmoor in a land swap.
A notice of the tours:
Learn about the history and importance of this special land. See, with your own eyes, why the Broadmoor wants it so badly. This is a short, flat half hour walk with a small section of gravel.
Daily at 10am and 3:30pm starting Wednesday, March 9th thru Sunday, March 20th and may be extended. Meet at Sacred Grounds Coffee Shop 1801 Cheyenne Blvd. 80906.
Though it's not required, citizens may sign up and invite others via Facebook by looking at the events section on the left hand side of the Save Cheyenne page. There's an event created for each day and time which people can use to invite others to join and see this beautiful piece of Cheyenne Canon park. Cancellations will be noted on the events posted on the Save Cheyenne Facebook page.
The media is welcome on any of these tours. Please notify Richard you will be coming.
Join the conversation and stay informed by following the Save Cheyenne Facebook Page
. United, we can protect this land for the wildlife who call it home and future generations of citizens of and visitors to our beautiful city. Cheyenne Cañon is a big reason Colorado Springs is such a desirable destination. Let's keep it that way.

Meantime, everyone is waiting to see what the city's formal appraisals show in terms of value of Strawberry Fields, which the city previously said is worth $1.6 million, while the parcels The Broadmoor would give the city are work more than twice that. Here's an overview of the proposed trade:
