UPDATE: We effed up: city founder v. golf legend, plus more serious corrections

Posted By on Thu, Apr 7, 2016 at 6:28 PM

One more correction to make: On page 17, the bartender for The Warehouse is misidentified as James Winchell. In fact, his name is Stephen Winchell, and we basically raved about how good his cocktails are in our recent review of the restaurant. Again, we regret the error.

Let's start out here with a full, transparent confession: We made (at least) a few mistakes in this year's InSider Guide, which hit our news racks yesterday.

We aren't proud of those mistakes. As journalists, our tails are tucked in shame. Erroneous information is never okay to publish. However, we're also human, and everyone knows that shit happens.

We also have a pretty decent sense of humor as an organization, so please allow this post to be a living blog of shame, where we'll share any further InSider screw-ups as we find them. (By the way, we are correcting these mistakes online, so you'll need to pick up a print copy of InSider in this week's paper for proof of our misfortunes.)

First, a blunder we can laugh at: On page 29, we write that our fair city was founded by none other than General Arnold Palmer. Not, you know, ahem ... William Jackson Palmer. Our newly appointed staff archivist and historian was able to confirm that the real General Palmer loved golfing and sweetened tea (I'm lying!); see for yourself in this unadulterated image:

Second, on page 57, the contact information provided for 503W is incorrect (though it is the correct info for neighboring Benny's). The correct address for 503W, unsurprisingly, is 503 W. Colorado Ave., and the phone number is 471-3370. Our apologies to the fine folks at 503W.

Last for now (gulp)... We really goofed the entry for The Diveon page 55. The establishment does not serve alcohol, so our calling it a "bar" is untrue. It is, however, a great destination for a bite to eat. We sincerely regret the error.
