I think Wayne should run a disclosure on every one of his pieces that mentions Trump or touches on the presidential election, stating that his wife has a paid position on the Trump campaign. That's the minimum you'd expect from a newspaper like the Gazette.———-ORIGINAL POST 4:47 P.M. TUESDAY, AUG. 9, 2016 ——————————-
Dede Laugesen will be the coalitions director for the Trump campaign in Colorado. Laugesen is owner of Windhover Media and is a communications specialist and a political consultant. She is the wife of Wayne Laugesen, the editorial page editor of The Gazette in Colorado Springs. We've already reported that Windhover Media was paid by the campaign of Darryl Glenn, who's running for U.S. Senate, and that relationship didn't result in any disclosures on the part of the Gazette when it editorialized more than once on the virtues of Glenn.
Laugesen, CoSGW’s executive director, is a communications consultant, digital media designer, writer and video producer. She is an entrepreneur, public speaker, and producer of popular children’s prayer-based videos. A Colorado native and longtime El Paso County resident, she has been owner of Windhover Media since 2003 and has developed a broad base of clients in politics and industry.
She holds a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder and studied at the National Journalism Center in Washington, D.C., where she also worked at C-SPAN as a production assistant.
Laugesen and her husband, Gazette Editorial Page Editor Wayne Laugesen, have been married for more than 20 years and are the parents of six boys plus one foster son.
She notes, “Though I am the proud wife of Gazette editorial page editor Wayne Laugesen—as is well-known in the community—he and his position play no role in my participation with CoSGW. I am a strong and independent woman, wife and mother capable of formulating my own opinion and championing the causes I support without input, influence or permission from my husband.”
