Hmmm let's see.... you backed Dan Maes even after it was proven that he "fudged" his resume, but you were his chairperson and couldn't abandon him so I guess that is loyalty, and now you back Owen Hill who signed an affidavit at the state assembly giving his incorrect address on Pennsylvania when it clearly wasn't and after he stated he moved BACK to his E Madison home in January. Two losing candidates. You are the campaign chairperson for Marsha Looper - is there going to be a third? If so, she has you to blame!
You can't blame Amy Stephens, the air, the media including the Indy so who can you blame. Like Snow White, you should look in the mirror Lana!
Primaries are a healthy process. We can vette our candidates thoroughly and properly. But, when the personal attacks come out, this just shows the kind of people you are.
@ Helen....Oy Vaaaaaay, nuff said.
Karon: No need to be rude. We are LPR classmates, after all. It is not hypocritical to agree with some articles and opinions of a paper and disagree with others. Nor is it hypocritical to characterize a paper's editorial point of view--although in rereading my comments I have not characterized it at all.
You might call my opinion "inconsistent" if I agree with some of what the Indy writes and disagree with other parts--but you would have to assume that they were themselves completely consistent. I am nothing if not consistent: limited government, fiscal and personal responsibility and free markets.
That's why I support Owen Hill.
Liars never prosper, karma always comes back to bite you in the a**.
Well put, RepublicanCO. Yes, Blaha has attacked Lamborn since January, initially by insinuating that he (Blaha) was more conservative, more articulate, and more of a “leader,” then via disingenuous attack ads (e.g., his "Lamborn threatens citizens" and his latest, in which he insinuates that Lamborn is in the pockets of various organizations that underwrote fact-finding trips). I, too, would like a lot more information about Blaha’s business "expertise.” His background appears to be in human resources (which I bet it was referred to as the more mundane "personnel" back when he got his first job in the field). I have never put much stock in organizational psychology; I admittedly have little regard for people who tell others how to play nicely in the sandbox so as to foster productivity. I checked out his Human Capital Associates web site (still up, even though he formally dissolved the company last month), http://www.hca-leadership.com/about-us.asp…, and read a few paragraphs. My reaction was simply "Huh? Say what?” What a bunch of mumbo-jumbo. I'm underwhelmed.
Blaha can’t seem to cut to the chase. In my initial comment on his Facebook page, I pointed out that Rep. Lamborn has been consistently declared the "most conservative" member of the House and asked why we should replace him—why he (Blaha) would be better. His reply was completely dunresponsive, nothing more than a reiteration of his "we need a strong conservative voice" twaddle. He didn't even reply to my second question (he actually deleted it); I had asked him to name an original bill he'd introduce/sponsor, if elected. I also asked him whom he’d “lead,” given that the House has 434 other members, all accomplished, and that he’d be a freshman. I don't know why he didn't reply; maybe he didn't want to take the time (too busy scripting his next Lamborn-bashing commercial, perhaps?) to check whether his proposed legislation was unique; maybe he was afraid that it would be unrealistic or reveal his naïveté; maybe he was loath to later be held accountable for something he said during his campaign.
I have yet to see any of the qualities that I look for in a representative in Blaha: responsiveness, integrity, plain/direct speaking, a dedication/commitment to public service (selflessness), and intelligence. He truly seems unaware that Representatives and Senators are charged with making decisions for the entire nation--that they cannot do much of anything, beyond earmarking (he also doesn't understand that earmarks aren't "pork"; they are a legitimate means of getting constituents' tax dollars returned to their districts for important projects and are subject to regulation and intense scrutiny), that benefits only their districts. He seems to believe he has the power/ability to revive the regional economy, but he hasn't specified HOW he'd do this. ("Broker deals" with companies? What the heck does THAT mean?); I guess we're just supposed to elect him and THEN find out. (shades of Pelosi and the "Obamacare" bill)

Just scroll down...the scroll bar is on the right side of your browser.
Before all the rest of Liston's supporters chime in with wild accusations, please read carefully Mr. Toro's statement:
"Residency is very vague; it depends on intent," says Toro. "[Hill] has a story that sounds plausible."
If a person who has not only read election law but undoubtedly understands it very well AND in not inclined to be kind to Republicans thinks there's no ethics problem, then I am inclined to agree.
It seems to me that just as Obama is using every means at his disposal to distract from his record, so also the Liston campaign is taking a page from Obama's book and trying to distract from their candidate's record.
To Alfred--go to that page you're referring to copy the link and then paste it-on this thread-I am not getting it.
Karol Scott: re CUT. Dig a little deeper, dear. The ratings are linked on CUT's home page, upper left. One click gets you to the highlights, two to the full report.
It appears to me that Lana, Al and Amy Mitchell love this so-called liberal paper when it promotes their agenda, but when it doesn't, they call it a liberal paper and discredit it's use. There appears to be a little hypocrisy going on here. LOL It's high time the truth on Owen and his residency problems came out, you all promote honesty and integrity in your candidates, yet you are backing a candidate that has none.

Lana - in case you and Blondie didn't know and you don't, I have a group of seniors who come to my home and I teach them how to use the computers. They want to be able to express their opinion - I let them! AND - I often provide free food to those who drop by.
AND just so you know for the future, I also teach in my home and give certificates for classes that I teach FREE to groups such as Honor Flight so you can raise funds to take our vets to D.C..
Have a nice day Lana - that chip you are carrying makes for a heavy load!
To Lana Warcorkz--would you please give us a link to the conservative ratings you just gave? I looked and cannot find anything other than the main page of the Colorado union taxpayer page.
I would also suggest to you that any politician that starts off on the wrong foot--by purposeful misrepresentation has some serious ethics issues going on. An impending FELONY charge is very serious. I don't think you would want a whistle clean democrat jumping on the campaign bandwagon here for the general.
It's very important that all elected officials are honest with their constituents--otherwise they have no business what-so-ever running for elected office.
Hey Montana Smith, oh Helen Sabin AKA "Montana Smith", Publisherpikespeakregionlivingmagazine on fb, AKA "Jean Gerasi", AKA "Juliet Yankee" . You mean you called yourself and asked yourself why the Independent and the Gazette did not report on this in the fall of 2011? They are businesses and are free to decide to print or not to print. At least they print the truth written my real journalists who do not publish op ed pieces and masquerade them as journalism.
From Blondie - subject of your attack piece.
Here are the Colorado Union of Taxpayer ratings for the El Paso legislators in 2011. The ratings are on a scale where 100.00 is a perfect rating, 0.00 is the opposite (even the worst Democrat was better than a 0.00).
House:
Marsha Looper: 76.92
Janak Joshi: 70.37
Mark H. Barker: 65.38
Bob Gardner: 57.69
Mark Waller: 57.69
Amy Stephens: 50.00
Larry Liston: 48.00
Pete Lee (D): 26.92 (predictable)
Senate:
Bill Cadman: 85.71
Kevin J. Grantham: 85.71
Keith King: 84.21
Kent Lambert: 84.21
John Morse (D): 21.05 (also predictable)
Funny how "bold conservative" Amy Stephens and "proven conservative" Larry Liston are the most liberal Republicans in the El Paso delegation. Maybe, just maybe, those two aren't actually what they claim to be.
I've been able to finish pretty much every plate of food that I've eaten since I was in High School. I'm not a gluten, but I see it as a way not to let food go to waste. However, that all changed when I ate at Jorge's yesterday afternoon for lunch! It was awful. The chicken in the taquitos was dry, the rice was dry, the beans that came as a side tasted like they had been there for weeks. I could not finish my plate. A business needs to know when the main reason why they are in business is not working. Mexican food for Jorge is not working!
I love how the RINO's call "The Indy" a LIBERAL paper, but then turn around and use it for their benefit and campaigns....Funny, huh? Go get em'...Chet!
BTW, Helen your name appears at the bottom when you comment, so I don't think you are Montana Smith:)
Why does Helen Sabin sign her own comment, Montana Smith?
I love how the RINO's call the Indy a LIBERAL paper, than use it to campaign for their Candidate...Go get em', Chet!
I guess we can all be thankful that Owen Hill doesn't work for Google Maps--or a GPS tracking system.
Re: “Hill's second home”
AL, if you are truly consistent on supporting candidates who represent limited government, fiscal reponsibility and lower taxes it would be a good idea to visit www.LarryListon.com because that's exactly what he has done.
