The Colorado Springs Independent, the largest locally owned newspaper and media company serving the Pikes Peak region, is expanding our circulation, sales, editorial and art departments in order to better meet the needs of our 125,000+ readers.
Our award winning newspaper is the “alternative voice” providing in-depth news and cultural reporting desperately needed in our heavily evangelical, military and Republican region.
- Business Journalist
We seek an experienced editor/reporter to help spearhead our effort to increase our business and economic news of interest to our readers. Searching for that person who can do in-depth investigations on how current business trends are impacting our local economy as well as someone with unique ideas on how to craft a business section with an alternative voice.

- Senior Advertising Account Executive
Seeking an experienced Advertising Account Executive with alternative newspaper background, but also willing to consider high energy, creative daily paper, radio or broadcast veteran. Prefer at least 5 years of newspaper ad sales experience. Must be a leader, self starter and great at communicating with large regional and national businesses, advertising agencies — as well as the little local guys and gals.

- Inside Advertising Account Executive
We’re hiring someone with mad phone skills.
We want to pay you to talk on the phone all day. Of course, you’ll be talking to potential advertisers about how great the Independent is and the myriad reasons they should be promoting their business to our 125,000+ loyal print and csindy.com readers.
Our hope: you have 1+ years experience selling print, radio and/or TV advertising, strong written and verbal communication skills, a ton of positive energy and that certain je ne sais quoi that gets people interested in what you have to say on the phone.

- Editorial Interns
We're looking for college students interested in spending the Spring 2012 semester writing, researching and otherwise toiling in the Independent's editorial department. Requirements include a commitment to 12 to 15 hours of office time per week, a positive attitude, and an interest in pursuing a career in journalism. (Previous journalism experience preferred, but not required.) Benefits: college credit, experience and clips, the occasional free lunch.
