"Truth is the Gazette has become a divisive wedge in this community, with its overarching (and might I add fringe) ideology..." Wow, talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Look: ex-Gazette "writer" Rich Tosches may soon be able to sword fight his own poison pen with those of the Gazette's Mark Barna and Barry Noreen - then those three amigos can gallivant about slashing their marks of Snore-O all over anything that doesn't jibe with their own personal and political philosophies.

I, for one, already mourn for the Gazette, and what it once was and will never again be. But even in the Gazette's current state, the Independent is and will remain a very far cry from it.

Bob 1, you mentioned that you “believe this is America and its called freedom.” This statement goes both ways. Yes, the beauty of America is that it is free and the beauty of God is that he gave us the choice of “free will.” In my opinion, this statement is just as suitable for heterosexuals as it is for homosexuals. Although it may be wrong to make hasty conclusions that this new Bible School will condemn gays in the community, but as history has shown, these types of “communities” are very well-known for their hurtful messages toward the gay community.

Who are we to judge someone based on their lifestyle, gay or not gay? Are they hurting anyone besides going against YOUR moral standards? Just as you emphasized keeping an open mind about the Bible School, I choose to keep an open mind toward not only this Bible College, but also to all of the gays who deserve to be treated equally. If we absolutely need to judge someone or something, why not place that judgment on the disgruntled people who think it’s OK to shoot people in public places; they are the ones who need the help!
That these virtues have to be stated at all suggests that it is already too late for the city to repair itself. It is not the Council who is at fault, for they are but the manifestation of those who elected them to office, as well as the large numbers of citizens who decided not to vote in last election.

Just a cursory walk through the old city would speak volumes about the wisdom of those who understood the foresight and planning required to benefit future generations.

Maybe being fallow is what is required now for the city.

Transparency and sustainability won't save the city. They are but frail words made up only to mask the venal behavior of those who lacked the imagination to provide a better outcome.

Are Libertarians the real power behind the horrible things that are happening in this city or are they a "fringe ideology" that can't win an election for dog catcher? How exactly can they be both? Jonno Katz’s play “The Accident” wept with success at its Manitou Arts Theater debut. Regularly known for his comedic productions, Katz chose to step outside the box and create a dramatic piece with humor delicately intertwined in its midst. It was brilliantly performed and held me emotionally bound to the characters at it's finale. I highly recommend this show!

This should send a message to the Police , Fire and the other city employees who are taking a hit by council on furloughs, that they don't rate in the eyes of City Council . It is not fair to pick out some City workers and give them special favor . The tax payer pays all the salaries on these people at the Utilities the same way the collected taxes pay for Police , Fire and the rest of the City workers . I think when the tax payer gets the bills from the Utilities and see the electric rates are up and at the first of the year the water rates will be raised too and many of the people of Colorado Springs out of work , barely making it and then there are the fees that will be added from the Utilities to cover the increase in the salaries of the Utilities are being raised on the backs of the same people that pay all the City Workers . There should not be any favorites in the City . I hope other people will see this news and act on this . Lets stop the Specials People treatment . All City workers should be treated the same . The Honor paid to this department (Utilities )is amazing . I think all of the people who hold this city together are great people . Our Police work long hours in all kind of Weather and the job is dangerous , Our Fire Department , take care of fires . They work all types of long hours , when we have fires . Our City workers , also work long hours , they have had to cut back on personal and are doing the work of more that two people to accomplish the work that is keeping the city running . Where is the Praise for all of these people ??? These workers are being blamed for all the tax shortages . NO ONE can make the taxes rise to meet the demands of this City . The people spend the money and in a good economy they spend and in this down turn they are afraid to spend and some don't have it to spend . It is not these peoples fault but it is being treated like that . I hope when the Utility Bill comes in you will remember it is your money that has fattened the checks of the workers in the favored department .

I think that homeless people should be allowed to panhandle wherever they choose to. They are not hurting anyone, and if people don't like what they see then they can look the other way. It's not like y'all rich people don't do that all the time anyways. If you ever had to walk the shoes of any one of these people you would understand, it's easy to stay on top but when you hit the bottom it's a long hard crawl back up. Most people lose their will to fight because the comunity would rather spit on them then give them a proper hand up out of the gutter. And furthermore not all homeless people are that way because of drugs or alcohol. Just remember that tough times can hit anybody and if you were in a bad position wouldn't you appreciate some help?
Well I actually have an interview with Hobby Lobby tomorrow and am considered by the general public as gay. I am transgendered and live my life as female and have had a legal name change. Following a phone interview I was asked to come in for a face to face interview and the company seemed very interested in me for a Co-Manager position. I have had friends that have worked for the company in the past, one which was a manager and he loved the job. I will fill you all in after my interview to see what vibe I get from the company. My resume actually stated that I was looking for a position with a diverse work environment.

The owner always greats us with a smile and remembers my husband and I from the times we had come before. I would definetley try this restuarant.

I'm still skeptical of this documentary. 'Under Our Skin' doesn't appear to investigate both sides sufficiently (even though it "gives insurance their say"). It's pro-ILADS, which is basically pro-pharma. Is it disseminated Borrelia burgdorferi [Lyme bacterial spirochete] or pharmaceutical mayhem (antibiotic induced lupus) causing the ongoing symptoms? Compare chronic [tertiary] Lyme disease with antibiotic adverse side effects and they're practically identical. Perhaps due to sending neurotoxins across the blood brain barrier causing inflammation (encephalopathy), lesions, demyelination, etc. MS, which Lyme is reportedly often misdiagnosed as, has been considered a disease of the BBB; that there is a direct correlation between the severity of MS and compromising [crossing] of the blood brain barrier. The CDC and NIH state the reason doxycycline antibiotic (used for acute Lyme and which crosses the blood brain barrier) is not prescribed to children under eight is due to teeth discoloration. However, the reason the FDA gives is that doxycycline causes encephalitis in children under eight. Moreover, amoxicillin doesn't cross the blood brain barrier nearly as much as doxy, and is thereby a much safer and, according to leading Lyme researcher Dr. Sam Donta, equally efficacious treatment for Lyme disease. Yet the safer alternative is rarely offered, nor is the patient even informed a safer alternative exists. It sure wasn't offered to me 10 days after a tick bite produced a large red rash on my back in Sonoma County, California in 2002. The ER doc immediately diagnosed it diagnosed Lyme disease (due to EM rash), and prescribed doxy; symptoms began five days after--extreme numbness and tingling in hands/forearms, malaria type blurred vision (as if experiencing a fevered brain), vertigo, wooziness, etc--symptoms which continue to this day. Finally, if Lyme disease is indeed medical neglect due to cost as 'Under Our Skin' purports, why doesn't the documentary call for a pharmaceutical price cap? Probably because pharma funded this propaganda.
