IQ: Winter, in reel life

Maybe during next year's holiday season, we'll throw on the heavy coats and head to a local movie event. In the meantime, our film choices are two (but still pretty good): the multiplex or the living-room couch.

What's the best movie to watch while snowed in? Shawshank Redemption. It would turn any mundane day exciting.

What was the last film that either thrilled or repulsed you? The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is the only one that sticks out in my mind. It was a wonderful movie. Very well-written.

Is there any movie coming out this winter that you want to see? 2012. The digital effects look amazing.

If there were a film festival every season to highlight local filmmakers, would you go? Yes, I would go. To see up-and-coming artists. To see how cinematography is evolving. To see new trends.

What's the best movie to enjoy when you're snowed in? Love Actually. It's sort of a Christmas movie. It's all about love and it makes you warm inside.

What was the last movie you saw in theaters that you were either thrilled or repulsed by? I think the last one I saw that I enjoyed was The Hangover, and I thought it was really funny.

If there were a movie about your life, who would play the lead role? If I had it my way, probably Zooey Deschanel. It would be a quirky indie movie.

If there were a festival every season highlighting local filmmakers, would you go? I definitely would. I think local artistry is the best way to get involved in your community.

What's the most enjoyable movie to watch while snowed in? Horror movies. They give you that chill.

What was the last movie you saw in the theater, and how did you feel about it? Eragon, and I was pissed because I read the book and they cut out so many of my favorite things from the movie.

If there were a film about your life, who would play your character and what genre would the movie be? I don't know who would play me, but it would definitely be a sci-fi. I'd have to have some time to think about the plot.

Do you identify with any Christmas character? Elves. They're short and they have attitude.
