Best Of 2012: Club DJ: DJ GÜ
"I let my hands do the speaking," says DJ GÜ, real name Steve Carney, winner of this award for the second year in a row. But GÜ, a turntable DJ, will explain that as far as the business goes, "I always had a passion for it, so I told myself to learn, and looked up to a lot of people; it just took off from there." You can most often find him playing at SoDo, where, new this year, GÜ has started to spin video (with music playing alongside the accompanying music video, on one of SoDo's many flat-screens). He offers a mix of everything during his sets, the goal being to give you a good time: "I play for the crowd." — Celine Wright
