1 Ton Trio
Navajo Hogan Roadhouse, 2817 N. Nevada Ave., 632-5490 Friday, June 15, and Saturday, June 16, 8 p.m. No cover.
Robbie Daniels of 1 Ton Trio proclaims himself a corny kind of guy.
Daniels (drums) and his two fellow Indiana-native bandmates, Henry Lewis III (guitar) and Dave Adamson (bass), fuse alternative, blues, R&B and swing music together into what they term a "corn-fed" sound.
"Corn-fed is more of a lifestyle than anything," Daniels says. "It's "My mama taught me well' type stuff."
Being from the Midwest, the trio knows all about field crops. In fact, that's pretty much all Daniels says there is back in his home state and that's why he and his bandmates left.
"We needed to be in a place where music is active," he says. "Because there is so many miles between gigs, Indiana lacks musical prosperity."
But the blues community in Colorado Springs has welcomed 1 Ton Trio with open arms. And that's a good thing for a group of down-home guys like Daniels, Lewis and Adamson. To them, blues equals family.
"The blues community is a big deal in the Springs," Daniels says. "It's not a title. The blues is something that you live."
