With 13 weeks to the Nov. 2 general election, the presidential race is exciting more passion than any campaign of recent memory. An avalanche of books -- many of them highly critical of the Bush administration -- have hit the bookstores (see cover package beginning on page 15), and the debate over Iraq continues to rage. -- Bob Campbell

The Federalist Papers. A lot of - colonists weren't comfortable with the idea of a - constitution, and The Federalist - Papers were a bunch of articles put together - into a book that helped get the constitution ratified. -  - What advice would you give the Bush and Kerry - campaigns? Kerry needs to stay the course because - there's a lot of anybody-but-Bush people out there. Bush - needs to keep his mouth shut because he digs a deeper - hole every time he speaks. He does pretty well reading - prepared speeches, but he shows who he really is every - time he goes off on his own. -  - Is the current crop of political commercials - influencing how Americans will vote? Unfortunately, - the ones that are negative will influence voters most. We - seem to remember negative things more than good - things. -  - What's the most memorable bumper sticker you've - seen? "Three Purple Hearts trump two DUIs." Also, I - saw one with a phone number on it that said, "Call Steve - and tell him to Schuck-off." -  -
