Loved the food - truffle coated french fries, tempura fried bacon, tasty shrimps all with nice dipping sauces. The music was outstanding and the place was comfortable with an elegant, upscale vibe. Only complaint was the noise level in the room - lots of hard reflective surfaces and chatty youngsters.
The curry chicken salad sandwich and the Reuben are also mighty mighty tasty!
First off I'd have to disagree with "livemusiclover" us Dj's at the Parrot are far from cheap and the worthless tripe that you refer to is not only years of experience, talent, and knowledge that the Dj's put into their sets, but also is what that downtown crowd on Fri & Sat nights come out to dance to. I've been the Resident Dj there for 3 years and check this out.... I also love live music - I've Dj'ed with several local bands such as Sanquine Addiction, ITUS, and others I love live music - the problem is a combo of different things - And we have tryed several things but it really comes down to the bands are not pulling the crowds like they use to. As sucky as that is to say but thats just what is going on. As far as the comment on our kitchen that has long since been any issues - We have a pimpin full Lunch and Dinner menu. I saw that last post and just had to say something to respond back to "livemusiclover" and to his comments on Thirsty Parrots Dj's - I am Dj Chris Diablo and I for one just the same as my counter part Dj Brandon Lee are Thirsty Parrot's Resident Dj's and we both spend alot of time and energy on our sets and our ability to remix cross genres (MASH-UP). Dj's such as ourself are just as much Live Music as a band is. I've been the Main Stage Resident Dj for the last 4 yrs. for "The South Park Music Tour" held in South Park/Fairplay, CO which is 3days-8stages-80bands and in Aug. for the upcoming "THC Music Festival" held in Alma, CO which is 3days-5stages-40bands - My point is I play with alot of different bands and what all of us are in it for the creation of music and the love for music - It just shows some peoples short-kut to thinking instead of opening their eyes and ears and seeing and hearing the artform that is djing. And as far as going downhill fast and we won't survive the summer of 2010 - Come check us out Every Fri- We got Dj Brandon Lee Downstairs mixing his Original Mash-ups along with every thing else....And Upstairs it's "The Dj Chris Diablo Show" W/ Me mixing years of my Original Mash-ups remixing all genres from all era's.......Then Every Sat - We Have Me Downstairs - mixing all genres and ALWAYS a BAND Upstairs......But come early if you want a table or a booth because it always ends up standing room only!!!!! Dj Chris Diablo
P.S. This was the first time I saw the second comment "ddiggler" thank you I love the positive feedback and support!!!
Dropped in there April 10th to support the Bikers Against Child Abuse party. The band rocked from 1 to 7, all of the people were friendly, and the place was a blast.
Love the atmosphere. Very Southern. Food is pretty good. Great drink specials and occasional live music. Shrimp poboys and oysters is what I recommend
Go in the afternoon and take time to look around. It won't be so noisy and you can have a relaxed time. The food is pretty good too.
I love this hidden Cigar Bar..also good selection of premium booze
OC Academy has been my home port for the entire decade. Food's good, beer's better, people are the best!
Great place for friends and family to have fun!
I liked the bar! The Band, Love.45 was great!! The staff was HOT!!! The girls in the bar were great looking - they do need to get rid of the STUUUPID Saddle chairs - who's idea was that???
Like the bar. The waitresses are fun! Saw the last band on earth in there a while back. They kicked ass! Some of the other bands I've seen in there since are lame though.
I like it. People were being fun and loud, much better than average bar food, fun deco...laid back joint and I've been in a LOT of joints.
Very good BBQ and I'm not even "into" BBQ. Good portions, interesting recipes for sides, fantastic pies. Four stars only because its location is an old house, which provides ambiance I guess, but also makes it a tad crowded and cramped. But really, the food is very good and service is good also.
They just added a wonderful appetizer of purple rice and bean looked like a sushi roll but was instead a stack..... loved it. . . service was top notch. Asked for a wine selection and it was perfect. Really enjoyed the meal. Recommend it highly.
Great open space, attentive staff, GREEN biz and yummy, yummy menu. Try the hot chicken salad (hot wings style fried chicken breast on greens LOADED with bleu cheese) or the Ploughman's Lunch (a traditional Irish plate of cold meats, cheeses, olives, garlic, veggies, etc served with breads). Oh yeah, there are the fries with curry dip. Trust me, come hungry.
Fun bar for Sunday football games and other weekend sports. Truly great brunch and lunch menu. A mix of traditional bar options plus hearty homestyle pot roast, bison and elk options -- plus yummy, unique salads. Really good bartender (Lindsey) and servers. Attentive, friendly and fast.
Beer drinker? You'll be in heaven at Trinity. Don't drink beer? That's OK, try the Pear Cider. Their food has greatly improved since they first opened. Lots of veggie-friendly options, or for the meat eaters, a bacon basket! Make sure to check out their calendar online. They have lots of events, art shows, music and such going on each month.
Re: “Jack Quinn Irish Alehouse & Pub”
Jack Quinn's is great Most of the time. The food is pretty consistently good. The Sunday brunch there is the best! I used to go every week for the Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz, but got frustrated with the sound quality of the speakers (only hearing every 3rd word during a quiz is annoying) and stopped going. I like their live music, but its always too loud for the space they are in. If they get the speaker system fixed they would definitely be a 5 star place.
