Very good pulled pork sandwich with Mom's Corn and Pea Salad (think 3 bean with lots of upgrades). They have a great selection of beers on tap as well bottled brewery beers. Service is always great and it's a good family atmosphere. Yup, there's lots of kids. They are people too & generally better behaved than any most impaired adults.
We saw "Swamp Cabbage perform all original music. They advertise themselves as Blues band but that was less than half of what they performed. Not the best band I have ever seen at Front Range, but decent musicians in the Southern Rock tradition. Their equipment was not sufficient to give them a full sound and it's a small area that you have to fill with sound. They were on their 10th show in 11 days and had to drive from Ogden Utah but hey...that's the job. Bring it or take a day off. They seemed to complete their sound check during the first set despite having set up an hour before they started. Unprofessional at the least.
For whatever reason, Front Range gets lots of touring bands, blue grass, folk & singer-songwriters. Many seem to play at the Telluride Blues and other festivals the week before or after. So you see acts for usually no cover that people just paid $60 to see.
it has been at least 20 years since I have had the honey wings with potato salad when I was stationed there. The best in the world. you guys need to franchise. Posted by Terrance L. Reese.
The best BBQ in the springs! Great food, great prices, and a drive thru. If you haven't tried it yet you need to go.
Great Bar-B-Que, Ribs, Brisket and Chicken. Prices are very good. My wife doesn't care for Bar-B-Que, so she has the cat fish and enjoys it. A little chilly if your upstairs with a group in the winter. But even then, the great food makes up for the tempature.
PULLED PORK IS EXCELLENT. I'm not a fan of their sauces but I always get mine to go and make carolina style mustard sauce at home.
Before I tried the firehouse, I checked on line for all the reviews (as I usualy do for a new restaurant). It is funny to me that the only negative ones I found are from Indy readers. Could that be because the Indy. has trashed them from even before they opened. So, haveing eaten there now, let me be the first to tell the Indy readers and the Indy staff, "YOUR WRONG". For those who are confussed as to what "endless sides mean", please let me clearify it for you. Endless means there is no end. The Firehouse is the only BBQ resaurant, that I know of, in Colorado Springs, Co. that uses and actual outside smoker for true genuine smoked meat. Not like the other guys, that use pressure smokers and steam smokers. Thier meat is truely of the utmost quality and tenderness. They obviously know what "slow and low" means. Thier ribs are to die for. If you know how to do ribs RIGHT, you need no seasoning on them. It is by far the only BBQ in the Springs that you can eat WITHOUT sauce. This place opened in October I believe and they have far out grown thier location. I look for them to expand. The food was well worth the wait and it is obvious, they have a LARGE fan club. I talked to a few people that were there and they said that they loved the place and eat there often. And to the food writers for the Indy, I think you should do another review. This time send someone who knows true BBQ.
Best BBQ in town — Just wish they'd open up a shop downtown! And no joke about the cobbler — the peach is my fav, but the apple's good too.
