Tried to get a good lunch to go. Waited 30 minutes for a sandwich. Only one person actually working in the kitchen, 3 boys running around not sure what they actualy acomplished. One keept washing his hands in the floor cleaning pucket and then trying his hands of his pants to go on a costumer table. Hair flying all over the food and service. Finaly got my lunch to go. The salad was old and tasted nasty totaly expired already, so was the bred, to cover that up the bred over butterd and greacy, the, non of the ingridience where fresh or properly assembeld together, the whole sandwich I waited 30 minutes for tasted like soap since most of the items on the sandwich have long expired and should not be served to anyone anymore. Well that was my first and my last expierence there. Its so sad to see nobody takes home cooked meals serious and actually present what they promis.
They have the best food and great deserts, you wont find any better in town!
We love La Baguette on Chestnut. Breakfast and lunch have always been great, but now with their new dinner offering, we are thrilled. We recently took a guest there for dinner and had a superb meal with a top notch wine for a most reasonable price at a beautifully decorated restaurant. The only thing I'd change is to have authentic French cafe music in the evenings (such as some of the Putamayo CD's) The owner and his wife are always so gracious and friendly. We feel so fortunate to have this lovely place in our neighborhood.
La Baguette at Garden of Gods and Chestnut: Nice job on recent upgrades and always good food. Long term/frequent customer. However, cashier shorted me $5 in change last time I went. I'll continue to go, but you bet I'll count everything from now on, and I'll probably tip them less. Their loss.
My daughters wedding cake was beautiful, just like the picture we chose for the design/decor. However it was all over crumble and dried, all the three layers...and costed WAY more than the one in the previous comment...
If you want just lookings, go for it; but if you want moist and taste, definitivelly try another bakery!!!
My daughter's wedding cake, eventhough was beautiful like the picture we chose for the decor, was all over crumble and dried.
If you just care for the lookings of it, just go for. But if you want taste and moist in your cake, try another bakery!!!
Tasty enough cupcakes, and cute too. But honestly the customer service is horrid. It's not worth dealing with them. The product would have to be world-class for that.
good food/menu if you're a carnivore. If you're not, not so much.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
We just love this place!!!! Great breads!!! Desserts...
I am glad to see something other than pub fare on Manitou Ave. My first visit was about 3 months ago, and I have been back probably 12-15 times since! My current favorite is the "Farmer" - chicken, spinach, tomato & goat cheese in a crepe! Mmmmm.... Heck, they even serve burgers now for the gastronomical philistines... ;-)
My wife and I thought we'd try a new restaurant for my Fathers Day meal. So I suggested we try Coquette Creperie, based on the menu I found online. As we both have been in the restaurant business, we base our opinions and critiques from a professional standpoint. If you want to be blown away by some out of this world cuisine, this is the place for you. Everything we ordered from the baby portabello mushroom appetizer to the Latin Lover crepe, to the lavender/chocolate mousse dessert crepe, tantalized our tastebuds and had us begging for more. Even the iced tea was phenomenal. The prices are very reasonable and you definately get your money's worth. Kudos to Turu and her Mom (owners) and Scott the Chef.
My birthday cake was decorated perfectly! However, the inside of the cake and icing (carrot cake) left a little to be desired. It was quite dry, and the frosting layers were not up to the quality i expected. However, I would still recommend them.....maybe just not that flavor. Also, the price was great.....$40 to feed 30+ people!
Fantasic doughnuts and even better biscuts and gravy.
Do yourself a favor and seek this little gem out. They are in the strip mall with the Yarn Outlet and a horse supply store across 8th Street from Hobby Lobby. The second you walk in you can smell heaven. From full size pies like grandma used to make to 'sweetie pies' for one or two, to mini cheesecakes in a plethora of flavors, decadent brownies and cake which truly is 'like no other', every baked good here is worth every cent and every calorie. And you won't find a more attentive, positive staff and ownership no matter where you look! I guess the sweetness is baked in both the goods and the people who run the place. The holidays are the perfect excuse to try them out. Place an order, but do it in person... you won't be able to leave without a treat for the road.
I was recently diagnosed with a gluten allergy (celiac disease) and it's been kind of a nightmare trying to find a restaurant with appetizing gluten-free fare. Following my first meal at Coquette Creperie, I realized that this gluten allergy business wasn't going to be so bad after all. The food is absolutely delicious and the variety of tastes from crepe to crepe never allow boredom to enter into the equation. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable and the staff have always been friendly and extremely attentive.
i was afraid to try a "gluten free" crepe but my partner is very intolerant of the gooey stuff so I gave in...glad I did. kinda magical filling in my bada bing (spicy italian sauce and great sausages) and we even had to try a dessert with fruit filling..a few cocktails later we realized we just didn't want to leave the cool comfort zone. ..who needs gluten anyway
Tremendous breads. Best Whole Wheat I've ever had, except for my own "Al Dente Whole Wheat" secret recipe. Nice people. Free samples on the counter. Marvelous Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Loaf that is heavy and dense. Many healthy breads to choose from.
Fav colorado springs breakfast place, the blue berry pancakes are the best you will ever put in your face :) Bacon is cooked in bacon and will stop your heart and make you smile with delight all at the same time...pastries are to die for, pie is out of this world...all around one of the best places in the springs!!!
Re: “Smiley's Bakery and Café”
This is the real deal homemade kind of place...best pancakes in town. Deciding what you want is not easy because it is all fresh and tempting. Perfect place to relax and enjoy.
