Re: “The Curry Leaf Restaurant

Great food from the kitchen, but the out front organization is a total failure.

They told me one time they had no seating available when there was only one table occupied...when I pointed that out they said that one of the wait staff didn't show up and they could not service the remaining tables.

This place, especially without a beer license (who eats curry without beer) will be vacating this space like every other eatery that has been here.

Smily's, at the same time, continues to flourish.

Re: “The Curry Leaf Restaurant

I purchased a groupon for this restaurant and went in the middle of the week at about 7 pm with my child and husband. It took almost 18 minutes to seat us even though we were the only ones standing there, 27 minutes to get us a menu, we had to waive somone down to take our drink orders, wave someone down again to take our food orders after waiting so long.... I was timing all of this as it really got ridiculous. The food was cold when we got it, was okay but curry out of a can at home would have been better, and the bell pepper in the curry still had the store sticker on it, cooked in with the curry. We left at 9 pm when they closed, which the meal should have taken 45 minutes at most. I would have left, had I not bought the groupon already. I have never not given a tip before, this was the first time I didn't give a tip :(

Re: “The Curry Leaf Restaurant

The Curry Leaf's chicken curry is really, really good, but so is everything else on the menu. Even the green beans offer a sophisticated blend of flavors, and the dahl is great. Lana has taken wonderful care of us over the years. I love this place.

Re: “India Palace

My family and I used to love eating here regularly for the past 10 years under several new owners, love the food, however the most recent new owners were EXTREMELY disrespectful and rude to me and my entire family. We are RETIRED military, therefore did not get the 10% off, but pulled out our cell phone to check in on facebook for the 10% discount instead...not only did we not get the 10% discount, but one of the new owners said we were annoying him! Very unprofessional....will NOT be eating here again until new owners take over this place.

Re: “Mirch Masala

Simply the best Indian food I've ever eaten. The tiki masala chicken is so incredible I've actually had dreams about it. The kheer pudding and the mango dessert are some of th bed flavors I've enjoyed. The format of the buffet is very pragmatic. Go at lunch, that's the best deal. Marvelous experience

Re: “The Curry Leaf Restaurant

I love the Curry Leaf! I make the drive into town at least once a week to have some chicken curry and lentil dahl. I'm sure their other dishes are great, but I'm so in love with the fragrant and delicious curry and mountainous long grain rice that I just can't bring myself to try anything else on the menu. Take my word for it, lunch time combo is the best value for your money. The atmosphere is friendly, and the little old man who serves may not be fast, but he certainly is very nice. It's well worth the patience.

Re: “The Curry Leaf Restaurant

My family really enjoys the Curry Leaf. We do so like the lentil dal curry and the chicken and beef as well. I also enjoy the potato dishes. The combination plates are well worth the price.
The owner is a pleasant woman, I am sad to read the comment from "upset customer" who gave no indication just what went wrong... which doesn't seem a fair review, and not helpful.
I hope more folks will try the cafe, it is not fancy, just clean and always smells good to us. We would be sorry if this CL would close, it is easy to stop by and do take out, a treat for everyone at our house. Kaye

Re: “Little Nepal

Food was marginal at best, there was very little curry flavor in their curry. We tried it once, and won't be back.

Re: “Little Nepal

Colorado Springs is lucky to have many good Indian/Nepalese restaurants, and Little Nepal is no slacker, probably my favorite buffet in town!

Re: “Little Nepal

Although the food was undeniably good, the service was absolutely HORRIBLE. Our waiter was a swindler, plain and simple. He was extremely pushy with his up-selling approach, continuously attempting to mislead us into believing that several items he suggested were included in the price of the meal, when in fact there was a separate charge for each. It felt like we were at a used car sales lot rather than at dinner. Once we firmly declined his add-ons, he ignored our table for the rest of the night.

Enjoy the (delicious) food, but be wary and don't get tricked! Your bill will be through the roof before you know it. :)

Re: “Taste of India

I LOVE Taste of India! The buffet is wonderful, and I like that they change it up on the weekends. Great prices for authentic Indian food. I am always bringing new people there, and would suggest to those who haven't had Indian before to order the mild butter chicken. Everything I have had there is delicious and the staff is friendly and prompt. I've been going there consistently for years and the food has always been great.

Re: “The Curry Leaf Restaurant

We were in on a Friday night; the place was bustling and the service was friendly and fast. The food was all good and, as the owner told us, it wasn't just one sort of sauce on five different items - everything was different. We'll go back again and try different dishes. The flavors were complex and different from Indian food - you shouldn't approach this restaurant with Indian food in mind, but of course some of the ingredients are similar.

foodgirl: I agree wholeheartedly with you on India Palace, but not on The Curry Leaf---it's too bad you never tried the food.

Re: “The Curry Leaf Restaurant

The eggplant curry is truly ADDICTIVE, so beware. And when you tell your friends about the food--don't skip the pappadum and sauce--you'll start salivating and have to go immediately. Dangitall...now I have to go there tonight...NOW...

Re: “The Curry Leaf Restaurant

It's hard to imagine a good experience at this place as the two times that I walked into the 'restaurant' it smelled of cleaner, not anything South Indian spice or otherwise. We were greeted at the door by a white guy who looked like he did not want to wait on one more table, which would be understandable, except there was only one table of diners there. The ambiance includes a few tables that look like they were leftovers from a closed fast-food chain did not convince me to linger once my friend and I decided to order, in spite of the lack of cooking smells. We tried ordering two things off of the menu, which they were "out of" but we were told to come back again to try them as they were diner favorites. I really, really wanted to like this restaurant. I love Indian food and was happy that a Sri Lankan restaurant had opened up in Colorado Springs. But I did not have the experience that others describe and I will not be back for a third chance to change my mind. India Palace, here I come.
