Re: “Black Bart's Steakhouse

G-MAN 07-28-2011 Last night my wife & I sat down @ 6:19 pm, ordered a bottle of Fat Tire & 2 ice teas. They brought to the table rolls & 2-3oz. bowls of beans. The waitress said the rolls & beans are complimentary no extra cost to you, kind of like chips & salsa at some the Mexican restaurants, so far so good for our first time being there. My wife ordered the open face roast beef sandwich with gravy & I ordered 24 wings & a bake potato, I would consider this order being rather simple to prepare in my house hold or anywhere else. An hour later, plus four apologies later still no meal! There were only 6 tables occupied to include ours when we sat down, with 6 other table empty & no one at the bar which sets about 10 people. I would not consider this being overly busy. At 7:30 pm my 24 wings appeared, 5 minutes later the bake potato & my wife’s sandwich had not been delivered as of yet. We got up to leave & I went to kitchen window where the waitress was waiting for the next order. I told the waitress that we were leaving & not paying for anything. The service was not good & the wait was way too long for what we ordered & you’re not even busy. The waitress came out to the car & said" we had to pay for the drinks". I said “I will pay for the beer & the ice teas should be complimentary for how long we waited!" I started towards the door to go inside & to pay for the beer. The waitress pops her head out the door before I could enter to say "my manager wants to talk to you outside." So I waited, an oriental woman appeared outside to tell me "I had to pay for all the drinks." I said "I will not pay for the ice teas as long as we had to wait!" She said "Yu are bad man" commenced to writing down my vehicle tag #. I told the lady "don't worry about writing my tag # down, my wife & I work in Law Enforcement, so I will call for a Sheriff’s Deputy to come file a non-emergency report about this event. The manager / oriental lady huffed & stormed back into the restaurant. Deputy Post arrived 5 minutes later to resolve the issue. Officer Post reminded me that there is a law called theft by receiving. I told him, "that I would pay for the drinks, it shouldn’t be more than $10.00", he kind of agreed. He returned with a ticket asking for $19.60, which indicated that the rolls & beans cost $5.00, so much for being complimentry. I paid the manager with my debit card so there would be a recorder of the transaction, as I passed my debit card to her, I said "that this is not a dead issue, your parking lot & the street outside are a public forum for which I will be protesting, I will be writing to the editor of Pueblo Chieftan/Pueblo West View about this event, I will be filing a compliant with BBB & the Pueblo County business licensing department. She said, Yu very Bad Man do whatever! So much for a Quick meal & a Quite evening after a long hard day at work @ 8:00 pm, now!!!This event lasted a 1 hour & 40 minutes by the time we got home, home is less than 5 minutes away, by which we could have eaten at any other restaurant in Pueblo twice & been treated appropriately by comping us in some way or another !!! Time well spent, Not!!!!!! Money well spent, Not!!! What is your opinion???
G-MAN 08-08-2011, Later in the day after posting the review below, I realized that we did not receive a copy of ticket & only had the debit receipt. I decided to stop by Black Barts Steakhouse @ 2:30 pm after work & I was in my dress down uniform. When I entered the restaurant, I stayed at the end of the bar closest to the entrance, while a young oriental girl got me a copy of last night's ticket showing what I was exactly charged for totaling $19.60. While waiting, I noticed that there was a menu sitting on the bar & it was open to the appetizers & sides page. At the top of the page it clearly said that the rolls & beans are free for the taken. Meanwhile the young girl appeared with ticket showing that I was charged for 2- full side orders of beans, $5.00 each totaling $10.00 for the beans, 1-Fat Tire beer, $3.50 & 2-Ice Teas, $2.75 each totaling $5.50 & $.60 tax for a grand total of $19.60. By the way, we never ordered any beans, nor did we receive a regular full order of beans. So much for paying for what we, consumed. It sounds like to me they gave themselves a hefty tip, instead. Friday Aug 5th, at 5:30 pm, 2-Pueblo Sheriffs Deputies rang my door bell. They identified themselves & I did the same. They said that on Thursday July 28th, somebody from Black Barts Steakhouse called them about me stopping by. They reported to the officers that, I was very intimidating in my uniform & asked them to inform me that I was not welcome back. I told the officers that, I only returned to get an itemized ticket of the actual charges, since only receiving a debit receipt the evening before. I asked the Officers, why are you only telling me this a week later. They indicated that, I was not there when they arrived & were too busy the rest of the week, until now. I told the Officers that the reason I was there even 10 minutes, was because the young girl had to call someone on the phone, in order to get me a copy of the charges. I wasn't courteous or rude while I was there & left promptly. After a close review of the actual charges, Black Bart’s charged me for 2-full orders of beans $5.00 a bowl as listed a the bottom of the menu, under sided orders. My wife & I only consumed the complimentary rolls & 3oz. dish of beans. I told the Officers, that I had written a letter to the Editor of the Pueblo Chieftain/Pueblo West View early in the day. I guess, I will be writing them again with a follow-up story of today's events. These people simply need to close their business or learn how a business treats it's customers.

Re: “MacKenzie's Chop House

We ordered two prime NY strips at approx 40 bucks each. Very disappointed with the quality and did not even finish. The manager did take some $$ off the bill. Wines were good...

Re: “Castaways

DO NOT STAY OR EAT HERE! Don’t let the ambiance fool you. If you go in you’ll notice very few customers if any. This should’ve been my first clue. The locals obviously don’t eat here for good reason. The food is absolutely disgusting and overpriced. The service is subpar. And the owner is a total slime ball, with a bad attitude, which has very shoddy/deceptive business practices. I held my wedding reception here and my father, who paid for it is absolutely furious and embarrassed by the food that was served to our guests. We wouldn’t even serve this stuff to our dogs. It took two hours for them to serve us. We asked the waitress for our drinks, she would nod and say okay but never wrote it down and then didn’t bring the drinks back and we had to ask again. The soda was served in red-plastic cups instead of glasses. I wanted one glass of wine and was told that I had to order an entire bottle or they wouldn’t serve it to me. I couldn’t even have a glass of wine at my own wedding reception. My grandmother asked for hot herbal tea and they told her they couldn’t do that. They severed rolls that were hard as a rock and obviously not baked on site. They didn’t even provide plates for the rolls. The dinnerware they did us on was old, chipped, faded and of poor quality. The salad was swimming in dressing. I sent mine back. We chose Mahi-Mahi with Mango Salsa and Pork “Medallions” as our entrees. The “mango-salsa” was not freshly prepared. It was obvious that it came straight out of a jar. I love mangoes and this did not taste like mango at all. The pork was not served with gravy or any other sauce. Both the fish and the pork chops were overcooked and dried out and chewy. The broccoli was cooked to death, it was mushy and inedible. The twice baked potatoes tasted like they’d been baked three or four times. They had no cheese, no chives, no sour cream, and no butter – not even salt. I don’t think they even mashed the filling with milk. It was almost like they baked the potatoes, scooped out the flesh and then just stuffed it back in. All the food in general had no flavor what-so-ever. I took one bite of each thing and pushed my plate away as did many of my guests. And only one person asked for a take home container. The majority of our guests left early in order to go get an edible meal somewhere else. And we ended up going to eat at a late night diner afterwards. Not only did we have the reception here my father also paid for several hotel rooms for wedding guests at the adjoined Rhodeway Inn owned by the same man. He refused to give any kind of discount and is now also refusing to return the deposit. In addition to this my Maid of Honor who stayed at the Inn overheard him talking about his hotel guests while he was picking up a few stray rocks from the landscaping; he said something to the effect of “people’s stupid (expletive) kids and their terrible (expletive) parents”. If he hates his customers so much he should probably get out of the hospitality industry. This man ruined the most important night of my life. Please do not let him do it to you.
