If you like Bavarian, this is the ticket
Canned food? Maybe this negative review came from someone too high to know that they were actually in some other restaurant in the downtown area. My family and I have been going here for over twenty years and we have never, let me say that again, NEVER, had a bad meal. The Rammschnitzel is some of the best I've had anywhere in the world... That includes Germany where I lived for a few years. Edelweiss is a gem that is not matched in the southwest. My suggestion to the individual that didn't like his meal would be to tell the staff...they will bring you anything you want to make you happy. One time I didn't like a beer I had, they brought me 5 other samples to choose from. NO charge. The thousands of votes racked up over the years for this masterpiece should drown out a complaint from someone who is probably a competitor.
If you don't like this restaurant, then that is your problem. The food is great, the German beer is awesome, and the staff is very nice and helpful. And too pricey? I suppose for some people a fifteen dollar main course for dinner and a five doller pint of imported beer is a lot of money, but I found the prices to be very reasonable.
I can't even wrap my brain around the negative reviews given here. The food is delicious and satisfying every time. My husband has traveled to Germany several times and loves the cuisine and says that Edelweiss is comparable to.
Their jaegerschnitzel is flippin awesome! I honestly don't care if it's served on paper plates...great food trumps ambiance...it's like a "German" bbq joint and...I like it.
Decent food, but for those prices they could start with something besides paper plates and plastic ware. German's are very particular about specifics and while they're critical about other Germans cooking, I guarantee the use of paper and plastic is a definite no-no.
Good food, fried potatoes are awesome! Not going to blow you away, but you won't be disappointed if you realize what you are getting/ Deli section has a good variety
Last year, there chef there made me the most wonderful punch torte. I had to do something, given the unfortunate closing of Old Heidleburg. I was not disappointed, though, and it was great.
Last year, the chef there made me the most wondeful punch torte for my graduation. I had to do something, given the sad closing of Old Heidleburg. It was really great, though, and I wasn't disappointed.
These guys are just going through the motions. Ate there last night, with the following issues:
1. Food tastes canned, frozen and re-heated. Nasty greasy fried potatoes, something that was supposed to be a potato dumpling appeared to be more of the same stuffed into a mold and dumped onto the plates
2. Pricey for the type of meals and beverages served
3. Indifferent staff - did not get the main course I ordered, side dishes were not as advertised on menu
4. Badly in need of a renovation - musty
The overall impression is that none of the profits are going back into the business or staff.
used to be my fav. place to eat went a few weeks ago with my daughter and was really disapointed
I had a rather unfortunate encounter with the woman owner of this restuarant. I got pulled over for my plates being expired. I pulled over in front of Edelweiss and my car died in front of an entrance to her parking lot. While the tow truck driver was loading my car, the owner came out and began screaming at the female police officer that we were blocking the entrance. The woman was pointing her finger in the cops face and screaming at her that she paid the officer's salary and the officer needed to do something. I couldn't believe someone would act like that. The officer couldn't even get a chance to respond because the woman wouldn't stop yelling at her. The officer finally had to order her to leave and the woman walked a little ways away but continued to scream at her. The whole incident left me pissed. I used to go to Edelweiss all the time with my family but will never set foot in that place again.
Went expecting good german food, had ok meal that was overpriced and service was below average. i have never been to a german restaraunt that dosent have mashed potatos every day of the week. couldnt get over it when the server told me that.
This Restaurant offers the best German Food in the Colorado Springs area. Most people don't know about this place because it is located in an older strip mall in Security. The food is high quality, the Restaurant and dishes are extremely clean and the prices are unbelievably low for the delicious foods you will eat. The food is real authentic German not like some other German places in town. I am from Germany and the past 15 years I have lived her I have not been able to get real German food in Colorado Springs, even though some places claim to be German. The owner of this Restaurant does not advertise because he doesn't need to. Once you have eaten there you will always go back.
Re: “Edelweiss”
The food might have been alright if it wasn't for the bug crawling through it. Tried to complain and the female manager/owner yelled and me and was incredibly rude. I wont ever set foot in that place again.
