I only ate there once but what I had was very good. I was impressed with the atmosphere and staff. Next time I go I may change my rating to five stars.
Souper Salad is the super-size version of what I wish I had in my fridge. Even though the offerings stay pretty much the same (except for their seasonal special salads and soup -- or baja fish tacos right now) you can have a different meal each time you go. I love the spring mix topped with beets, zucchini, radishes, cucumbers, green peas, sunflower seeds and balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Those are toppings I never think to have on hand at home but they are always fresh and plentiful at Souper Salad. I add a bowl of soup and have eaten healthy enough that I don't hesitate to finish lunch with a slice of their ginger bread topped with their soft serve (I think it's yogurt) and a little caramel and chocolate syrup drizzle.
I can only speak for the Garden of the Gods location, but the servers are friendly, the restaurant is clean and the pricing is good (you can even get it to go). Adult- and kid-friendly and I love an affordable place with a variety of good, healthy options.
Visit Wines of Colorado (just barely up the pass!) in the spring/summer/early autumn for a true Colorado experience. Choose an outdoor table and enjoy nature's ambience with a big, fat, delicious (and lean!) buffalo burger — their stand out menu option — and red potatoes. A great place to go as a group and you'll almost feel like you're in the comfort of your own back yard (except someone else does all the cooking and cleaning up!)
While the lunch special pricing is hard to beat, I always find myself ordering off the dinner menu so I can get the myriad of Korean side dishes from kim chee to fish cakes and everything in between. The side dishes really make the meal. Layer a bite of beef bulgoki, rice and any one of the spicy, flavorful side dishes, then just mix it up next bite and your mouth is exploding with flavor. They even have an octopus dish with whole teeny, tiny octopus mixed with slices of big octopus. The staff is helpful, too, and will explain what everything is so you know what everything is.
If the Mediterranean Diet is like eating at Med Cafe, I could follow it. I rarely order off the menu (although every time I have, I've been pleased) but opt for the "salad by the pound". A scoop of baba ghanouj, a scoop of Greek salad, some red pepper hummus, a spoonful of kalamata olives and a soft, warm pita... it can be a different meal each time. Their soups are good too and they have a soup and salad special that's the perfect size for lunch.
For the first 3 years I ate here I couldn't get myself to try anything except the noodle bowls... every one of them is good but the egg roll noodle bowl tops my list. Finally, a year ago I tried their chicken salad and I have a new favorite dish. A mound of cabbage/carrot/cilantro topped with moist chicken, chopped peanuts and a citrusy/fish saucey dressing that I always want to slurp off the bottom of my plate. Make sure to order a summer roll to start the meal. Very kid friendly, too.
Family-owned, friendly staff who will get to know your name if you visit more than once. Flavorful, traditional family-style soups, FANTASTIC salads (I didn't expect to see those on a Thai menu!) — especially the Yum Neu, a salad with thinly sliced beef — and a really affordable lunch menu. Wash down dinner or lunch with their sweet Thai Iced Tea and you'll be back to try something else. Another stand out, the green curry. Yum.
Great atmosphere. Wonderful authentic dishes. Sometimes a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it. Traditional pink & white table cloths, fireplace, friendly attentive staff.
While steaks makes up most of their signature dishes, I prefer their seafood specials. Generally creative and full of innovative flavor. Love the fireplace on those cold winter nights.
