Super fun hole-in-the-wall place. Very West-Side. The food was delicious and the staff was curteous. Everything on time and done right.
Everything about this place from ice cold beer to great sausage is world class.
Get there early...even the huge parking lot fills up let alone the 14 tables....but absolutely delicious....a simply read menu, that has within it everything you can imagine. The staff is friendly and hard at work...the pizza is the best.
It's beautiful on the inside the staff was very friendly and one of the owners even brought my food out to me. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and it was outstanding. I always thought that it was best to start with the sauce and the meatballs to help me determine how good the Italian food is as this is a standard practice from my east coast background. I was very impressed and will be returning frequently as I look forward to eating more of the menu. BTW my friend had the lasagna and he insisted I taste it and we concur that this was easily the best lasagna in town.
Thank you for opening your restaurant. I brought my sister in to Ficco's for lunch. She catered for many years and makes a mean lasagna herself. I make a great lasagna myself and I am super picky. I was so blown over by their lasagna recipe. It was mouth-watering delicious. My sister was so impressed that she ordered a to-go lasagna for her husband. They live in Denver and are food snobs. The interior was surprisingly beautiful and impressive and the service was phenomenal. I could not believe the portions and the prices. The food tasted so fresh. I could not resist their cannoli and had a couple more pieces to go. Again, thanks!
This place is awesome – the interior is beautiful, the prices are extremely reasonable, and the most important thing … the food is phenomenal AND you get a huge portion for the price. The bread baked in house melts in your mouth. The caprese offers huge beefsteak tomatoes and large pieces of fresh, soft mozzarella. The dishes are the bomb and it is because the passed down recipe for the sauce is outstanding!
The real deal neighborhood Italian place to eat...simply, delicious, at the right price!
Always good food at a good price every time we go there. It's small, get there right at 5PM when they open to get a seat. Their house wine is sold by the full Liter, in a carafe, not the overpriced 750ML bottles found in other eateries.
Dined at Dat's Italian this weekend - great all around experience. The atmosphere was quaint and cozy, the Italian food was excellent. I have to give an extra mention of the marinara sauce and the generous-sized meatballs - very tasty! The owners (Joanne & Dennis?) were extremely gracious and very good to my young children. I would highly recommend Dat's Italian to anyone looking for a warm & friendly family meal experience. What a great little gem in Old Colorado City!
My son, granddaughter and I found "Dat's Italian" while roaming around and checking out this lovely town. Well, "Dat's Italian" was a treasure, not a find. The food was wonderful; every mouthful an experience; and you could tell it was prepared with love. We met Dennis, who was extremely pleasant; and the waiter was a delight. They have an atmosphere that just made us feel right at home, surrounded by friends. What a wonderful ending for a delightful day ! Thank you all!
OMG...we are from back east where the Italian food is the best. Thanks to Joanne and Dennis, the owners and chef, we have found great Italian food here in Colorado. What a treat and everything we have had there is wonderful!
I absolutely love Pizzeria Rustica. Their caprese salad is awesome, and I have never had a bad meal there. I particularily like the Salsicca pizza - it is to die for. Their service is great - last time I was there the general manager came out to say to our table himself. Great time all around.
Wow. I cannot believe the reviews I'm reading. I've ate there three times (including tonight) and never had a bad experience. In fact, I've been to 40 States and 4 continents and given my vast experience the world over, I cannot think of anything bad to say about Pizzeria Rustica... and I've never seen a trashcan in the seating area and never heard of them running out of dough... which could happen considering good pizza like this is made with dough that has had a chance to ferment.
Amazing food, great atmosphere!
I love Pizzeria Rustica. The wait staff is friendly, courteous and responsive. The pizzas are fresh and delicious. The wine and beer selection is decent. The restaurant makes efforts to buy local produce and local products with a focus on sustainable business practices. I'd recommend it as a great dining experience, with one caveat-- getting a table on Friday or Saturday night can be a nightmare... but luckily they do reservations. Go on a whim any weeknight, but weekends-- call ahead or you might be S.O.L.
The experience will be one your best - If you are looking for more than Great Food, this is your place. Kym and Armando are two of the few that understand going out to eat is also about the Experience. Homemade Mozzarella.... I mean really, you had me at hello. Lastly, if you are a wino, not saying I am, but this place is a hidden treasure.
If you see me there, dont say hello, just buy me a Malbec....

Re: “Dat's Italian!”
What a wonderful find on the West Side! Dennis and JoAnn are amazingly gracious hosts and the food is definitely made with love. I went to a wine dinner there where DAT's teamed up with Queen Liquor and it was such a fun experience! Very relaxed and friendly. The fact that JoAnn took a moment to ask for prayers for a toddler she knew that was dying of cancer and thank all her staff was so heart warming. The place is VERY kid friendly and they have great daily specials. Beautiful, Beautiful food. Good drinks too. Try the Italian Valium, it'll make any bad day fade away. This is a great example of a small business that is very LOCAL and very into COMMUNITY. Try them out. You won't be disappointed.
