Re: “Sunshine Studios

Sunshine studios may have a good recording area, but the place isn't ideal for live shows. I wouldn't recommend that bands attempt to play there.

1) it's off the beaten path, no one comes out to the shows.
2) they charged us to play, no other venue does that
3) the sound system is weak and not loud, mixed down bad
4) we got a hum during our set, they couldn't figure it out for half the song.
5) bought their DVD which had horrible sound quality.

I wouldn't recommend that bands play at this venue. This review is
for their live shows, i'm not sure about their recording abilities. Considering
the DVD's quality though, it may not be all that great.

Re: “José Muldoon's - Tejon St.

The only thing good about this place is Taco Tuesday and happy hour. The Margarita's aren't that great either especially after having a Tivo from Jorge's.

Re: “Tam O'Shanter Pub

Please. Do you even have to have a review of this place? It smells of mold. The owner is rude. The food is bad. The only good thing in here is the digital jukebox and that's not saying enough to stay for 5 minutes. ;(

Re: “Kinfolks Mountain Shop

A fun, mellow, locals-driven venue ... come early if you want to sit. Local brews and wine come out about even with this crowd. As an out-of-towner I felt very welcome -- music (Tenderfoot Bluegrass) was local and a fun band -- not as much old-time as I like, but still a nice night out --- town is cute but a bit of a sideshow. After two weeks on N. Academy Drive inally found a place where CO Springs "lets it's hair down".

Re: “Oscar's Tejon Street

@ Ishhod, you are a stand up person. I too do not support his establishments since that inappropriate beating.

@ restless native, if you were beaten senseless and the attacker was not disciplined, wouldn't you call and want to yell about it! I know I would!!! I would yell to the world about it. It is wrong and unjust.

Re: “José Muldoon's - Tejon St.

Bland, Bland, and bland. Looks like if you pay the indy they will give you a best of award. This is now the fifth restaruant we have tried that received the so called best of and they all fell very short.

Re: “Motif

This brand new venue has huge potential! We LOVED the food - it is exceptional....the bernaise sauce on the Steak Tapas was among the best I've had. The salmon is a generous portion perfectly cooked in a ponzo sauce over spinach. We also tried the special which was a perfectly cooked Halibut. It is sooo rare to find a restaurant that understands how to prepare fresh fish in Colorado. While this is clearly not "fast food", but rather "made to order real food", we find the service warm and friendly and the atmosphere and music make for a pleasant wait. The perfect dry martini didn't hurt either. The Creme de Brulee was also the best I've had.....rich and creamy, yet light with a hint of cardemom and ginger! They also cater to the "Gluten Free" diners.... We hope they are so busy that they will expand service to weekdays or lunch as well.

Re: “Motif

Just what he Springs needs- a great venue with awesome jazz musicians. I agree that the noise level was ridiculous. Hopefully the jazz enthusiasts will prevail. I see lots of potential here.

Re: “Copperhead Road

I was never more offended than I was on Saturday Night 06/19/10. I had actually went to this bar the opening weekend and had a really good time. So as I had a few friends who were coming up from Pueblo we decided to go to Copperhead Road. We arrive around 8:30 p.m.. Parking was starting to fill up as it had the first time I had been there. I was telling my friends about the seating they had around the bar. We first took a tour of the bar and then decided to get a drink and find seats. I was so surprised when I saw the employees literally kicking paying customers out of their seats. No telling how long they had been there or how much money they had already spent, just to get kicked out of your seat and basically told to stand or pay yet another minimum of $65.00 to have a reserved table to relax. I was handed a business card and told to call this women who was roaming around somewhere to request a table that I would have to pay for their cheapest bottle which was $65.00. Every single table in the placewas put on reserve. Not only did they kick people off the seats around the bar but there were people sitting at tables who were asked to pay or move. The bartender told me the only "free" seating was out on the smoking patio. Are these people for real. First you pay a $5.00 cover then $65.00 just to sit down. This is so wrong on so many levels. For one thisng this place is not that special. A person can go to a more popular place in Denver-Coyote Ugly-and not get treated this way. There was no apparent event going that evening either. This is insane buiness. I did order one cocktail and noticed that not a single table was being sat at. I would have spent a minimum of $65.00 in their bar had I been given the chance to sit down and relax. It's one thing to walk into a crowded bar and have to wait for a seat but to have to pay for seating how rude. I gave them one star but they really don't even deserve that. There were 5 people in my party. If we all would have spent $65.00 they would have made more had seating been an option. As it was all they got from our group was the cover per person and the revenue from one cocktail. Shame on them.

Re: “Motif

Loved the food - truffle coated french fries, tempura fried bacon, tasty shrimps all with nice dipping sauces. The music was outstanding and the place was comfortable with an elegant, upscale vibe. Only complaint was the noise level in the room - lots of hard reflective surfaces and chatty youngsters.

Re: “Motif

I'm very excited about this new venue and hope it thrives and prospers in our community. I'm hoping once the social bar flys are gone--these are the people who are currently crowding the place to just talk all over the music and treat it as background noise like they do at every other bar in town--then there will be room for real Jazz lovers to come out and appreciate great music and great musicians.

Re: “Thirsty Parrot

First off I'd have to disagree with "livemusiclover" us Dj's at the Parrot are far from cheap and the worthless tripe that you refer to is not only years of experience, talent, and knowledge that the Dj's put into their sets, but also is what that downtown crowd on Fri & Sat nights come out to dance to. I've been the Resident Dj there for 3 years and check this out.... I also love live music - I've Dj'ed with several local bands such as Sanquine Addiction, ITUS, and others I love live music - the problem is a combo of different things - And we have tryed several things but it really comes down to the bands are not pulling the crowds like they use to. As sucky as that is to say but thats just what is going on. As far as the comment on our kitchen that has long since been any issues - We have a pimpin full Lunch and Dinner menu. I saw that last post and just had to say something to respond back to "livemusiclover" and to his comments on Thirsty Parrots Dj's - I am Dj Chris Diablo and I for one just the same as my counter part Dj Brandon Lee are Thirsty Parrot's Resident Dj's and we both spend alot of time and energy on our sets and our ability to remix cross genres (MASH-UP). Dj's such as ourself are just as much Live Music as a band is. I've been the Main Stage Resident Dj for the last 4 yrs. for "The South Park Music Tour" held in South Park/Fairplay, CO which is 3days-8stages-80bands and in Aug. for the upcoming "THC Music Festival" held in Alma, CO which is 3days-5stages-40bands - My point is I play with alot of different bands and what all of us are in it for the creation of music and the love for music - It just shows some peoples short-kut to thinking instead of opening their eyes and ears and seeing and hearing the artform that is djing. And as far as going downhill fast and we won't survive the summer of 2010 - Come check us out Every Fri- We got Dj Brandon Lee Downstairs mixing his Original Mash-ups along with every thing else....And Upstairs it's "The Dj Chris Diablo Show" W/ Me mixing years of my Original Mash-ups remixing all genres from all era's.......Then Every Sat - We Have Me Downstairs - mixing all genres and ALWAYS a BAND Upstairs......But come early if you want a table or a booth because it always ends up standing room only!!!!! Dj Chris Diablo

P.S. This was the first time I saw the second comment "ddiggler" thank you I love the positive feedback and support!!!

Re: “Cowboys

Cowboys was so much better before it moved downtown. Parking is difficult and the club is just out of place being across from Rum Bay. I've never been to the east location so I can't speak to that. I've also noticed Saturday night concerts are beginning to disappear in favor of Thursday night concerts. Typically artists would perform at Cowboys after a night at the Grizzly Rose in Denver, but that trend seems to be going away. Cowboys needs a big buiding with thier own parking and good concert set up. The current location has neither.

Re: “Cowboys

Went there for my twin sisters' 21st birthday. WILL NEVER GO AGAIN. There was a guy who kept trying to touch her and then trying to start fights with my mom and guy friend. They never kicked him out. Just told us to stay away from him even after he tried to jump my friend and growled at my mother. We should've just called the cops. Ruined their birthday. They closed the bowling alley at 1 when the website said they were open till 2. No drink specials even though when we looked on the website and had called ahead. Bouncers were nice but useless. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Re: “Crystola Roadhouse

Some of the rudest bartenders I have ever encountered. Watch out for the blonde with the filthy mouth and total lack of social skills. Food was atrocious - the grilled cheese will survive the Apocalypse. Hard wooden bar stools with no backs for the live music - pretty uncomfortable.

It's the neighborhood pub and then some! FANTASTIC staff and great clients! Everything on the menu is terrific; the music is always good - just feels like home with lots of friends!
