My husband and I had been to blue star a handful of times since moving to the springs about a year ago. Friends of ours had talked it up and we really had seen nothing like it in Colorado Springs.
We were excited to bring my inlaws there when they came to visit for the first time. Everything seemed as usual when we first arrived, we had a table in the lounge area.
Things started going down hill when we got the appetizers. The cheese and meat plate only had one triangle of cheese and was nothing like I remember it being the last time we had ordered it. When one of our several waitresses (sounds nice until they repeat themselves and it becomes unorganized) came to clear our appetizer plates she rubbed the edge of a messy plate against my brother in laws sleeve leaving a sticky mess. We brushed that off pretty quickly though, especially after putting club soda on the spot...
Next thing I know my mother in law is sitting with her main course (salmon) in front of her and she's not touching it, I look at it and there are hairs under the salmon on her plate. When she told the waitress, the waitress offered to get her a new dinner and she comped the meal, but it just wasn't right that after the second mishap from the staff we didn't get a visit from the manager or any kind of sincere apology.
Worst part is next.... My husband woke up with TERRIBLE food poisoning the next day. He had the sea bass and no one else tried his dish. It was a violent case making for a not so great trip for his family. My husband was cooped up in our hotel in Denver all day Saturday and missed an excellent dinner in Boulder.
We are very disappointed in what a scam we fell for, this restaurant poses to be fine dining when really they are unorganized, unsanitary and unprofessional. We will not to recommending this restaurant to anyone in the future and will stay far away from it ourselves!
We stopped in here New Years Eve to have a couple beers. The regulars are not at all friendly and are in fact quite hostile to outsiders. We played a game of darts and a loudmouthed regular wanted to fight us over it. When we didn't fall for his threats, he harassed us non stop as we played. Go there only if you want to get into a fight with a regular. There are bars in town with much cooler clientele.
Well here it is the last day of 2012 and they STILL haven't reopened. Let me say I loved 15c and I would honestly drive from Denver to drink there if they did reopen.
Just a bar at night, but during the day this is BBQ HEAVEN! I have lived all over (Thanks to the military... and I am from Texas where BBQ is a serious matter and not to be taken lightly so trust me when I rave.)
I have been to Kasey's DOZENS of times and every time I drag another geeky coworker with me in there they are forever thankful and in BBQ HEAVEN!
The 3-meat sampler is the best deal... just get that and plan on taking leftovers home. Oh! I saw an e-mail come out today at work saying that we are going to be having Kasey's come in to our office building so people can go and order a plate to take back to their offices.... WOOHOO! Hopefully this is a regular thing for us... AND I hope he has LOTS of food because we have 300 people between our two buildings of DoD contractors:) I love good food and don't care if the place is nothing fancy.
By the way, I have tried alllll the sides and never been disappointed in anything... EVER!
A biker bar for adults who don't like to fight, but love to eat and drink
This bar has been around for longer than most have even lived here... Although it has had it's "hay day" many years ago... it really is still a fun little place. It is a small and cozy. The CO Natives come and go (not on a regular basis but on and off... to sort of just "check in") old clientele will confess they take for granted it will just always be around... The food is fine... It is by no means fine dining but good grub... it is pub food for goodness sake. The new owner is actually really nice... Students from Colorado Tech University and the Tech corridor used to pack the place but with the quieting down of the Tech Corridor (G o G) things are quieter... Used to get some semi-pro baseball teams who didn't want to stay near Sky Sox... they were loyal to the place actually. If you haven't been in here... you really should try it... It is one of the many lovely old bars in town... kind of like Benny's, The Dublin House, The Old Dutch Mill, Navajo Hogans, and of course The Hill Top Lounge. Each which were once upon a time "THE PLACE TO BE" and folks drove from all around town to squeeze in to these places... The old timers still pop in... curious newbies pop in and of course there are the colorful customers who give you something to look at and laugh at. Go in and say hello.... these old drinking establishments are worth visiting to ensure they don't disappear. If you don't like "old hole in the wall bars"... maybe you should stick to the national chain establishments.... Support your local small businesses and keep an open mind... they aren't FANCY in any way....
Greatest bar/ Pub In Colorado springs! I don't know why this guy is giving such bad review for? Maybe he was to drunk to remember what happened. When I was there with some friends we were treated great and served with the best service by the owner lady Denise. I will be going back there again real soon!
Trinity is a great place. They have high quality food and the cooks do it right. My favorite is the Griz! and if they've added the Buffalo Mac to the menu then you got to try it. The owner, whose root is in brewing, knows his craft and they make many great beers but he knows other guys brew great beer too. So he also offers the best beers from around the world for his customers to enjoy. I'm living in Germany for the next few years but look forward to returning home and sitting again at that funky counter.
The beer is warm and too cute for serious beer people...veggi heads with dreadlocks would love this place, but how many of those are in Colorado Springs...most unwelcoming.
Go to Dickie's two doors down, have a good BBQ and a Shinerbock is my recommendation.
Horrible service. Been here twice, and both times I was ignored by the waitstaff for over 15 minutes. Would have left but was meeting people there. Took forever to get food out. The food is good- if you're into local, organic, vegetarian stuff, but the prices are a bit steep and the portions are very small. Was shocked by seitan gyro did not come with fries for the price.
Jim's is simply Bad Ass! Very welcoming! Regulars bar! Become one! Bar Staff ranges from sexy smart ass, to cute and tall, to ripe ole saxy. Great place because..."Sometime you want to go, where everybody knows your name. And they're always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see, troubles are all the same. You wanna go where everybody knows your name!!!!"

Too bad you have to share your food with all the flies...
Very good pulled pork sandwich with Mom's Corn and Pea Salad (think 3 bean with lots of upgrades). They have a great selection of beers on tap as well bottled brewery beers. Service is always great and it's a good family atmosphere. Yup, there's lots of kids. They are people too & generally better behaved than any most impaired adults.
We saw "Swamp Cabbage perform all original music. They advertise themselves as Blues band but that was less than half of what they performed. Not the best band I have ever seen at Front Range, but decent musicians in the Southern Rock tradition. Their equipment was not sufficient to give them a full sound and it's a small area that you have to fill with sound. They were on their 10th show in 11 days and had to drive from Ogden Utah but hey...that's the job. Bring it or take a day off. They seemed to complete their sound check during the first set despite having set up an hour before they started. Unprofessional at the least.
For whatever reason, Front Range gets lots of touring bands, blue grass, folk & singer-songwriters. Many seem to play at the Telluride Blues and other festivals the week before or after. So you see acts for usually no cover that people just paid $60 to see.
SO this place claims to be the only hookah lounge with 2 locations in the Front Range...Hmmmm Well Vibes Hookah Lounge is opening its second location too in Castle Rock, CO.
As far as freaky belly dancers WTF...and to the point of being well kept Vibes is the CLEANEST and CHILLEST Hookah Lounge around, if you have not been there I promise you it will become home to you for smoking hookah after one visit.
We are the best and all your friends are at vibes come see why...

Re: “The Blue Star”
How rare...I have been eating at the Blue Star since it opened and have always had a first rate experience on every level.
The Blue Star and Marigold's are the two best places to eat in the City...just considerably better than any similarly priced places.
Importantly, the volume is high enough that the foot is always fresh...I am actually pretty stunned by the bad review. Maybe the hubby is allergic to sea bass.
