I would not call this an authentic Cajun eatery, but it isn't a bad place to go if you have time before your movie starts in the same strip mall. I've been here three times, and it's not great, but it'll do. The green chili is really good, but really spicy and I would say get a bowl for dinner. The alligator bites were VERY greasy, I'm not sure if that is normally how alligator tastes. I was not a fan of the red beans and rice- the beans were undercooked to my liking. The gumbo was good- not great, but does in a pinch. Great service even in a "seat yourself" venue.
Always a tough choice to go here or not. By far the best seafood in the springs. However it will be an hour before you get your food, and the waitstaff will not check on you unless prompted. If Mr. English would hire a real staff instead of relying on family this place would take off.
I just had lunch at the restaurant. It was quiet when I walked in, butfilled up soon thereafter. The soup was as good as ever; the wheat roll was heated, but was definitely fresh. The coffee was not as good as it has been. Some investigation indicates that it is the same owner, but with loss of identification as a "La Baguette" in Colorado Springs, there is a more than subtle loss of some of the ambiance that had made it a "fun" place to go.
It would be awesome if they could hire an actual busperson who would actually clean the tables with disinfectant - I try not to think about when I eat there. Yuk.
Can be charming, depending on who's there and who is playing in the band. Incredible players like Wayne Wilkenson on guitar are there on occasion, but then some wannabees always seem to show up. The most forgetable-the highly over-rated Bruce Pennington on piano.....ugh..... Seriously, if I hear another cliche' "Liberace"-like scale run from the keys i'll jump out a window. As long as there is a variety rotation in play, this place is worth checking out... but beware the afor mentioned lounge lizard act.
Nice sports bar, food is good and the staff is friendly
I wholeheartedly agree with the last poster. I think the food and oj is top notch. The manager could make an better attempt at quieting down the kitchen and wait staff when seating folks around that semi-open kitchen. The biggest problem I have is that this place needs a remodel or deep cleaning. They get a ton of people each day, so money shouldn't be an issue. The place is dusty, paint peeling, outdated/uncomfortable seating. This persona makes some people think what the kitchen must look like, if the seating area is this much in despair! Shut it down for a couple days and get the place in order!!!
Fujiyama has the best sushi but the service is poor. This might be the problem with the low tipping. Get hard working staff in there and this could be a 5 star place! The sushi chefs seemed to be better though a year ago. Staff changes frequently at this place. Thats not a good sign.
We often go to Mimi's for breakfast on Sundays. The breakfast and lunch menus have a wide variety of choices. The food is always good and served well. My partner is gluten intolerant, and Mimi's is helpful in telling her what is available to her. Sit in the room off the entrance if possible, as the room in the back is very noisy. The last time we were there, the server did not keep my coffee filled, thus only 3 stars.
Moneymoo that's to bad. I've been a patron for 20+ also and I must say I've waited for the day for Jose to serve me a bad meal (but they've been consistent over those 20). Not sure why people are blasting the food, you know it's not authentic before you come (but it is consistently good). Good, not necessarily authentic, southwestern food (not that tex-mex garbage).
I thought the shrimp was outstanding. The overall atmosphere was not.
Really? Are you the owner? I think it smells weird and has very little ambiance.
good food/menu if you're a carnivore. If you're not, not so much.
Had breakfast in the dining room recently. This is allegedly a 4 diamond place, but the floor was dirty (food crumbs), the cream was old and curdled in the coffee, the service was slow and inattentive, but the food was good. It will be interesting to see if they hold on to all of their diamonds.
The salad bar is good, the pizza is ok. Mostly about atmosphere, great to take kids and old people.
Friendly service, decent food. Will definitely go back.
Let's be honest....we can still choose where to spend our money for food and this is never my first choice. Delivery is COMPLETELY out of the question as I have NEVER gotten anything good from them in that department but if you go into the restaurant, the food is good. Not great, but good. I have found the best service at the Monument location and everything I have eaten there was good. First choice is always Papa Murphys but occasionally we will stop in and eat at Borriello Brothers.
SMD and scottwkeller1999 comments certainly provide opposite end of the spectrum reviews of Ruffrano's Hell's Kitchen Pizza. Must say I agree with both. Have visited more than once, and some days the service and the food are great, other days just the food is great. Staffing is certainly an issue and the owner's attitude is hit or miss, depending on the day you visit. Chalking this up to new restaurant nerves, and hope they work out the kinks as this is great pizza!
haven't been in years but their pies were alwys amazing!!!
Re: “The Curry Leaf Restaurant”
Great food from the kitchen, but the out front organization is a total failure.
They told me one time they had no seating available when there was only one table occupied...when I pointed that out they said that one of the wait staff didn't show up and they could not service the remaining tables.
This place, especially without a beer license (who eats curry without beer) will be vacating this space like every other eatery that has been here.
Smily's, at the same time, continues to flourish.
