Probable the best Vietnamese food and menu in the Springs with excellent service and reasonable prices.... We are regulars.
This is one of the last places in Colorado Springs that has not dumbed down to burgers and fries.
We have the fewest good places to eat of any town our size in the country...does everything have to cater to the pants down around their butts crowd.
Carlos' lunch is very competitive and spectacular for treating a good customer to a treat.
When you take a table, you are there for the evening...no one is turning the table and hustling you along.
You pay extra for perfection, warmth, and appreciation. The Broadmoor is out for the buck and they no longer know you by name.
Carlos, Walter's, Marigold's, Paravacini's and the BlueStar are primo local eateries...and well worth every penny more than the mediocrity served up by the chains and on Tejon Street.
It is really still a chain and doesn't stand up to local places like the reasonably new place near the old La Petite Maison on Colorado just west of I25.
Just went there last night-great food. We're glad they moved closer to our home. Worth the visit!
Sinuous meat? That doesn't sound appealing. Is that the adjective you were looking for? And egg flour? What is that?

Interesting picture. There is a bottle of Orin Swifts "The Prisoner" along with the $17 entree. The Ritz charges $65 for this expensive wine option. Thats a fairly expensive dinner IMHO, so skip the wine and get a glass of the house red. The entree looks tasty and reasonably priced. Why do restaurants always have to mark up wine and drinks so darn much? They would sell more if they scaled back their prices to a reasonable level. They could offer "The Prisoner" for $40 and still make a tremendous profit, and probable sell many more bottles of it.

This is what I was thinking when my husband and I tried it for the first time, yesterday. We moved to CS in 2010 and are here to stay... we love the abundance of restaurant choices in CS, especially the old diners and family restaurants like Big Train. Great food and service! I'll take places like this over noisy, crowded, stuffy, modern, over priced places anyday.
I've been to The Dive twice and also have mixed feelings about it. Personally I liked their Dive Burger but, as the review noted, the soggy, oil-soaked fries were barely edible and nothing I'd eat again. They would go back to the kitchen if I got them like that again...
I also had breakfast there. Some of the intital turn-off were extremely greasy plates and silverware (even the other set of silverware on the table appeared not to have been washed). I though the coffee was barely drinkable, and the home fries were so-so. The omelet, however, was very good.
And I will say that the server (the same gal both times I was there) was very nice and attentive. So, good burger, good omelet, great service. I'm just not sure if that's good enough to outweigh the negatives. It has been over a month since my last visit and thought I'd give 'em some more time to get their food preparation squared away. Looks like I may need to wait a bit longer as your reviewer experienced the same thing my wife and I did. Well, here's hoping they can work things out and survive...I'd like to have an independent litte diner near by.
I forgot the about mentioning the resident fly that has buzzed around customers for as long Dale Street has been open...they have one on each floor and several out front in the waiting area, always very attentive to the customers.

Gave up on this over priced under staffed could care less place years ago...the chairs are uncomfortable and the tables always require the waiter to put match books under the legs, never really solving the problem...too late for me, too many other nicer places to go where they actually do things like clean the base boards...yuk.

I had lunch there today it was WONDERFUL. Make sure to try the fried Orka and the jerk chicken and the 3 ribs. I love, love this place. Go Amos and Lunita and the beautiful children!!!
I was taken here to eat the other week (as a Buddhist monk, I dug the name). Their Reuben was delicious, and generous proportionate to the price. The coffee was good, and the atmosphere nice.
This place is great. His main dishes are great. Best BBQ in the Springs and the sides are amazing. It is easy to tell that he loves to cook. Give Amos a try!
Great food - Amos does it all himself and he clearly cares that his customers are pleased by his food. This place is hard to see from the street, but simple to find; its nondescript exterior hides a treasure inside. You are missing out if you skip this!
Yeah great review and great place, just an off ramp off the Santa Fe trail it makes a great stop off for a pleasant bike ride with great coffee, food and a cool atmosphere. Been a few weeks since my last visit so will have to make a bee line to see all the latest developments and enjoy another coffee. Nice write-up! I asked a lot of questions when I went over there, but don't know enough about coffee to get this much detail. I'll look forward to going back and knowing what to ask to get the most out of the experience. Thank you!
