I stumbled a bit over your editorial selection of Nelson's as the best barbershop in town. I'm sure Nelson's is a fine place, but there's more to a barbershop than getting a haircut. For instance, does Nelson have institutional knowledge of political happenings around town? How long has he been in business? Can he keep a conversation going while keeping private things told to him in confidence? Did the writer ask whether he could be bled at Nelson's? After all, that's what the red and white barber pole outside is all about. No, there's only one barbershop in Colorado Springs that qualifies as number 1 and that's Herb's, number 2 in your article. Herb not only cuts your hair while you're alive, he'll cut it after you're gone. Well, I'm not sure about that last part, but he sometimes goes to nursing homes to cut the hair of clients who no longer can visit his shop. Lots of people cut hair. Herb's a friend who doesn't forget who you are from one haircut to another. He may not bleed people either but he's certainly number one in my book.

This is so well-deserved. Jon clearly retains the spirit of snowboarding in Blindside. He is all about the experience, stocking good quality stuff, not the most hyped and sharing unbiased advice. He is also all about sharing the love of the sport and sharing his passion. We got talking about boards one day and he asked how I liked my board -- another Colorado brand. I told him I really liked it. He shared that it was indeed a good brand and then suggested I try a Venture just for grins, so I demo'd one this last winter -- no pressure, just a curiosity. I am buying one this fall. I truly believe it wasn't about the sale, but was about sharing the love of the brand and the sport. Finally, Jon's board and ski tuning is amazing and his customer service is purely about service -- there is no hidden agenda here. If you love to ride (skis or boards) you need to swing by. Great shop, great guy. Good for the sport and the Springs to be sure.

This is for the so called "best bust". First of all, this is why I pulled this so called paper from my restraunts. Check your facts- nothing was confinscated from Shrap Metal- I repeat-nothing.Thats why they're still open.Let me know when SOMEONE from the media wants to state the actual truth about ANYTHING then maybe I'll listen. GO JOHN McCAIN!!!!

Most important to me is Jon's ethics. He suits up and shows up through thick and thin. Jon's a real family guy working not only to make a living, but also to make the community better. He is a great guy trying to make a go of it, has a baby on the way, so get out there and support his shop. God Bless you and Megan!
