El paldrino....with all that restaurant experience...what a joke
I love Panino's! What's a total bummer is all three locations prepare the food differently. I live closest to the restaurant on Dale and Tejon and prefer to drive to the one on 8th Street. We did try the one out on Powers and got one of the salads we always get at the 8th Street location - spaghetti salad but with mostaccioli rather than the spaghetti noodles. Completely different salad and not that great either.
how about reviewing a restaurant worthy of eating at? for several weeks it has been food trucks or other locations not up to snuff. how about reviewing a few locations and having recommendation instead of the drivel you have been posting. thanks!
Quijote's was a huge disappointment. Service was horrible and the food not much better. They could not get anything right, green chile was so bland, in fact none of the tastes were memorable in any way. My two dining companions had the same opinion. Never going back. So my advice is... Don't go!!
Quijote's is an EXCELLENT place for Mexican food~~their ceviche is to die for as are their cucumber margaritas! Everything is reasonably priced and super-delicious!
Quijote's also has amazing green chile, which you can have smothering just about anything on the menu. Oh, and the shredded beef enchiladas - yum! Oh, and the tortas, and . . . Just GO!!!!
I'm amazed that the Independent pays for these excuses of reviews to be written by those so unqualified.
Bella's Bakery & Cafe owner Andy Schlesinger called me today with concern over how Bella's bread fared in the above Peak Place review. He said that after speaking with Peak Place's staff, he learned that they had been freezing the bread, which he advises against because indeed it dries out and crumbles easily.
"You can eat it cold or warm, but you just can't freeze it," he says. "At our shop, we butter it and throw it on the flat-top — it's delicious."
Schlesinger also said that Peak Place had been freezing it because of storage space concerns, but the two outfits came to an "amicable" agreement to have Peak Place discontinue using Bella's for baked goods.

Ugh, the food reviews this week tell a truthful tale about eating in the Springs. :(
The whole paper has been crap ever since the good writers left. Even Zankowski is jumping ship, leaving an alcoholic teenager in charge. And look at the new issue. A cat? Maybe if there's nothing interesting inside there doesn't need to be anything interesting on the cover.
Thank you for your input and review of our business at Babes Espresso. However to be quite candid, your review lacked consideration and support and frankly is written like you had a really bad day, or your girlfriend just dumped you... Something of that nature. I'll bullet point this for you to thoroughly understand.
a. Originally we did start with 2 baristas, however, because we are new to the area with a very different model, the business needs to ramp up. Meaning, once business demands justify the labor expense we originally forecasted, we will go back to our original plan of having more staff. This is managements discretion. Did this negatively impact your service?
a. You stated "Inoffensive but uninteresting house-blend beans", please elaborate. Does this relate to visual, palate or nose criteria? Or does it relate to the actual bean not verbally abusing and boring you at the same time?
b. You reference price. Is paying the $3.50 at Babes vs $4.25 at Starbucks better or worse?
c. We roast our own beans and take great pride in our product, so if you are directly comparing us to our Foldgers using competition, please give us a better contrast comparison. Like Smashburgers to McDonalds. I'd be happy with that.
d. Pertaining to our 'Zombie Chic' you stated "buries coffee under almond milk and syrup".
i. there's no almond milk in what you ordered that day, I verified. There is however, Almond Roca.
ii. did you like it? Or was this just another put down to our overall offering?
a. You didn't speak of this. Did you have a good time? Were you treated well by the Barista? These are usually a part of service metrics in a review of a F&B establishment. Did we meet your expectation of seeing beautiful baristas? It's our business model and something that should have, given the source, been poorly written about.
In ending, I want to state that given my 20+ years in Food & Beverage and having real reviews come in from those that have a polished, professional and constructive criticism, your review rubbed me personally the wrong way. I suggest implementing more helpful review criteria, so that the operator or manager may use this as a tool for improvement. Rather than posting some childish banter and degrading a small business that really is trying to deliver a quality service and product.
Hopefully your better now. There's plenty of fish in the sea.
In your preceding information Uintah is spelled wrong twice but spelled properly in the story. Just thought you'd like to know
So the food is awful, but there's half naked women to make up for it? Eh... not anywhere I would go by myself, with my girlfriend's, my sister, my mother, or my boyfriend. I might be going out on a limb here, but I suspect there isn't much of a female clientele? Sounds like the bikini bar is a place my ex and his friends would frequent to awkwardly snicker at scantily clad bomb shells and throw out lame pick up lines whilst jabbing each other in the ribs.
Hey rt mind sharing which pub?
Cider in America is in full Renaissance. IIRC, it's actually the fastest growing segment of alcoholic drinks. It's well worth seeking out non-mass market ciders, although some are quite good. I got hooked on them a few years ago and am fortunate that a local pub carries a very large selection.
Thanks Matthew and seeds community cafe. We're going organic next week so look for some great organic breads at ranch foods direct as well as my newest item runzas or bierocks as their called also organic $5.99
Agree with Ralph, our All Natural Burgers were best fast food burger to date.
Agree with Jah, Green Line Grill has an awesome burger and fries.
If Carl's is homophobic then I'll not darken their door again, same for Chik-Fil-A.
We had a coupon for 2 for 1 on the new "All Natural Burger." I could not justify paying full price, but what we had was as close to what they look like on TV as I've ever seen. The cheddar was real, the ground beef was lean and fresh tasting, the toppings were fresh and the bun was something a step up from a normal hamburger bun. I know nothing of Carl's Jr. politics, but for half price it was the best burger I have had from a fast food joint.
Can't give Carl's Jr., or any company that actively hates on our homosexual brothers and sisters any of my dimes.
But nice try Carl's to jump on a bandwagon while still being a sexist, homophobic organization. Green Line Grill, Quijotes' Mexican Hamburger, Drifters, Short Stop, and BJ's Velvet Freeze are all much, much better alternatives than this hateful chain.
