Re: “Venetucci family member issues plea for farm

It was my understanding that the plan was to shutter the farming operation out of abundance of caution until a determination could be made on the contamination effects on the produce from the contaminated well water that was used to irrigate the fields. If the contamination could be passed into the crops and cause health issues with the public... the liability of knowingly and willingly selling the product would put the future of the facility at financial risk. It was a smart if not the smart thing to do for future of the facility.

Re: “High hopes for cocaine

Hi everyone, there is good news, a perfect and greats one.my name is Doris John, My husband suffered of Parkinson disease for 4 years, and he was cured by a Herbal doctor called Doctor Chukwu, who uses herbal and traditional medicine to cure people. We have spent so much on my husband health for years but no improvement. A friend told me about this herbal man who cure people with herbal medicine. He cures sickness, diseases, viruses, and infections with his different herbal curing medicine. Doctor Chukwu directed that my husband would be heal in 7days if he uses the herbal medicine that he prepared and ship to us as he directed. And 7days later he called and say to us that I should take my husband to hospital, we went to confirm from the central hospital and several test that was done says my husband is not sick or anything. To cut the story shot, his Parkinson disease was cured by this herbal Doctor in 7days. This amazes me though I would advise anyone who is suffering from Parkinson disease or any other viruses to meet Doctor Chukwu for his herbal medicine to cure your illness because am happy to see my husband healthy again. Re: “High hopes for cocaine

I am very happy today because i never thought i would be able to leave up till this day. I suffered Parkinson disease for several years. i looked for how to get rid of this but could not found any solution, I have gone to several hospitals to seek for cures but all they say is that no cure for that. I was scared and I was not having enough money, because I have spent all my money in medications, i was so surprised about this, i saw many people online testifying how Doctor Chukwu cured them,i collected the doctors contact and i thought of it for about 2 good days then i concluded in giving him a try because there was no harm in trying. when i contacted Doctor Chukwu he told me he was going to prepare a herbal medicine for me which i was going to take for 2 weeks and after that i should go for a test at any of the hospitals, after i did everything which he asked me to do i received the medicine the next two days from a courier company which i started taking immediately after about a week plus i felt some strange moves in me, i felt like i was getting better when i completed the medicine i went for a test in the Hospital were i was diagnosed Parkinson disease, i thought i was dreaming i went to another hospital it was still the same result then i believed i was total cure and free from Parkinson disease no more stiffness and vibration on my hands. Here are his contact details for anyone who is passing true any kind of sickness or disease he will be willing to help you too. Re: “Venetucci family member issues plea for farm

Fort Carson and the Catholic Diocese needs to step up and help out. I met the Venetucci's years ago. When I was in elementary I went there for the pumpkins too.. My son for a couple years went to the farm as well. I am sad to read about what is going on there. I have since moved away from CO after 32 years. I moved away last year and am saddened and shocked as to what is happening. I think both Carson and the Church should help out. My father served at that post and I was a member of the Church. Anybody and everybody should help out.

Re: “Reader: Doug Lamborn, you're totally out of touch with your constituents

At the age of 54 I started experiencing lack of muscle control when performing strenuous exercise. It was very periodic, as I got older, the episodes became more frequent, and I started experiencing voice box spasms, excessive sweating, and trouble swallowing. I also started to have episodes when I wasn't so active. My family doctor wasn't able to diagnose my problem, but I was sent to a neurologist and they diagnosed it as Parkinson's. All medications given were not working i had to look for an alternative treatment. I read in a health forum of a herbal clinic in Johannesburg who has a successful treatment to P.D, i immediately contacted the herbal clinic via their website (www.Healthherbalclinic.weebly.com) and purchased the parkinson's herbal formula. I received the parkinson's herbal treatment via courier and immediately commenced usage, i only used the herbal remedy for 7 weeks all my symptoms were unbelievably reversed, i did another series of test i was confirmed free of parkinson's. Visit (www.healthherbalclinic.weebly.com) or email (healthherbalclinic@gmail.com)

Re: “Reader: Doug Lamborn, you're totally out of touch with your constituents

When will Lamborn hold a townhall meeting in Colorado Springs...The last one was years ago/ by invitation only and in a tiny venue. Time to bombard his office with requests for an open townhall..the man never faces ALL his constituents...only the very right wing.
ENOUGH!

Re: “Gaebler snags Springs Professional Firefighters Association endorsement

TruB - that is interesting - if I read the charts correctly and did the math right the five candidates supported by CSF are averaging 83.85% of their funds received being from members of the development groups.

Obviously, everybody is free to support candidates with as much as they feel they need to but it does seem to point to the need for the public to ask very hard and penetrating questions during whatever candidate forums are scheduled!

The next four years may see the need to resolve the details on the Banning-Lewis Ranch, which may come up as soon as the election votes are counted - what form will be used to tax us to pay for the $460M the mayor has committed to stormwater.

Does 85% of campaign funds to your account buy good judgement or just put you in line to follow orders? Maybe keeping the current council in place will eliminate the question?

Re: “CSPD hands a records headache to District Attorney's Office

Nothing will happen just like when blood samples and evidence where not handled properly. No one will be held accountable. No accountability when the DA's are found to be out drinking and driving county vehicles.

Don't tell the dude calling people libtards who is charge of this town.

Re: “Venetucci family member issues plea for farm

The Venetucci Farm has great historical value to the Colorado Springs area. Perhaps best known for their pumpkins and produce, the Venitucci farm contributed far more then vegetables to the community.
On July 13, 1942 the US government initiated a condemnation action to acquire 815 acres of land from the Venetuccis as part of a military camp that eventually became Fort Carson, for $10 per acre. The original acreage of the farm was 1020 acres. Following the sale of the 815 acres to the army (El Paso County assessors office. 1942) the farm was left with only 205 acres. The willingness of the family to support the building of camp Carson allowed the city to bring a military facility to the area bolstering the economy.
The Venitucci Family also owned very valuable water rights that supplemented their agricultural income. In November 1941, they drilled their first water wells: No. 1, No. 2, and No.3. The first filings of these wells were made with the state water engineer on May 1, 1945 (El Paso County assessors office 1930 6B reception number 206157933, book number 287, page 673 Warranty deed 915). Additional wells were drilled after that time. Other farmers in the area, seeing their success, began to also drill wells.
During the early 1950s, a serious drought situation developed along the Front Range. It became particularly serious in the pikes Pikes Peak Region during 1954. The Venetuccis entered a 10 year contract with the city of Colorado Springs, beginning August 2, 1954 to have water from their wells pumped to the city. Before the pipeline was completed the drought had become so bad that that Broadmoor's putting greens were drying up and the Broadmoor was on the verge of closing their doors. An agreement was made between the Venetuccis and the Broadmoor and in June 1954 and trucks hauled water from the farm to the Broadmoor until August 2 of 1954, keeping the Broadmoor open.
In addition, the Family donated a portion of their land to the Diocese of Colorado Springs for the construction of a Catholic Church. The farm was also dedicated by Colorado open lands as a conservation reserve for migratory birds and animals that have been pushed to the farm from surrounding areas due to encroaching development.
In 2003, Bambi and Dominic Venetucci decided that they wanted to keep the farm just the same as it was despite urban encroachment in the Security- Widefield area, and quietly contacted the local philanthropic organization in Colorado Springs known as the Pike's Peak community foundation to make an arrangement with them to take control of the farm. It was a lease arrangement which was to be in place for 99 years. Eventually the farm will be placed in a conservation easement, ensuring that the farm will be protected and remain a farm forever.
" The Venetucci Farm, preserved in perpetuity through the efforts of the Pikes Peak
Community Foundation, shall remain as a living legacy to the spirit and generosity of its
founders Nick and Bambi Venetucci. Established in the 1930s, the farm gained recognition for
giving away literally millions of homegrown pumpkins to school age children throughout
Colorado Springs. The pikes peak community foundation aspires to uphold this tradition, as
well as to offer educational experiences and agriculture and to create a rural setting for
community gatherings."
(Pikes Peak Community Foundation. 2007. The Mission of the Venetucci Farm).

I had the honor of researching the Venetucci farm for my graduate thesis at UCCS, Geography and Environmental Studies in 2007.
"The Family Farm as a Community Resource: A Case Study of The Venetucci Farm"
The above information is just a small portion of the contributions the Venetucci have provided to the Colorado Springs Area.

Re: “Reader: The Indy's loaded with crap

The letter writer is partly correct, as it is noticeable to long time readers that the Indy has recently become just another liberal crying towel instead of maintaining its longstanding position as the true representative of the fourth estate for this area. Perhaps it is time to consider changing the name of this publication, as "Independent" is now a misnomer.

Maybe someday this city will make police and fire the priority. The city is growing beyond the means of either Department. You get what you pay for! Don't complain when mistakes are made and crimes increase!
