To me, it is incredibly scary and sickening that so many candidates are in bed with Developers. After all, it was the CITY along with their financial backers (Developers) who KNOWINGLY ALLOWED HOUSES TO BE BUILT ON A LANDSLIDE! And to make matters worse, are now planning to build a LOW INCOME housing project in the very same area; so that properties in Broadmoor bluffs will lose ALL of their value!!!
Who do you think will win in each district - and what importance do endorsements have on your decision on issues and/or candidates? A three minute quick -poll. Thank you
This is one of the first times I've done my research on my candidates before reading endorsements. I'll be interested to see how my opinion will be swayed between now and when I submit my ballot.
She was a beautiful soul, a rare treasure indeed. I came out from Guam and was able to spend 4 days with her. The streets had been so harsh to her and she was worn down to a nub. A flickering Candle about to be extinguished. I poured all the food, love, and encouragement I could had into her in those 4 days. She was a fighter and she took in the truth of who she was and rallied around to Take On The World. She herself was in awe of what she was accomplishing. I was not. I like to think I had a part of this great accomplishment of hers in this last year. Even if my only contribution was to love and not judge. That was her message. More Love, be less of a judge. And don't sit in your ivory white tower thinking you don't need to do anything. That this battle does not concern you. It concerns us all. We must all do whatever we can. Even if that is a look into the eyes of someone who is struggling. A look that says I see you, You're a person, you are valuable You Are Not Alone. I was so honored to be loved by Raven we talked almost every day. her love made me feel special. I have lost my dearest friend and my greatest treasure. RIP my Neni Girl, Hu guaiya hao, always and forever
Thank you for writing this. She would've loved it.
R.I.P., Raven. Hu guaiya hao, neni.
Until COS can compete on price with DEN, the convenience will be too expensive for many flights and fliers. Sample:
DEN to London Heathrow, travel late March return early April: $881 .96 Round trip (Delta).
COS to London Heathrow, same dates: $1,567 .06 Round trip (British Airways/American Airlines).
The 75 mile distance between COS and DEN is no justification for nearly doubling the price, but that's the reality.
I am rather excited about this. And I am still hoping for a direct flight to SNA out of COS by any of our local carriers.
Absolute nonsense. Your sources are slightly less credible than Reefer Madness.
Just read the linked article provided by Jeff Hirtle about Fresno's stadium, which contained this chilling fact: "Stadium events outside of the Grizzlies initially were projected to generate $425,000 annually. In 2015, the amount was less than $10,000."
Regardless, City Leaders are proud of their beautiful stadium and consider it to be worthy of spending tax dollars to keep the red-ink stadium afloat while skimping on basic services that are the responsibility of govt to provide for its citizens. Stadium/event centers are not a profit center for any city that has one - instead, they divert tax revenue to debt service and maintenance. Stadium/event centers don't generate a profit for anyone other than the owners of nearby properties and the developer, who in the case of COS, is also the owner of numerous nearby properties.
Routon - and his fellow starry-eyed City Leaders who are determined to revitalize downtown so that it can compete with Denver - need to take off their rose-colored glasses and put on their thinking caps.
in as far as keeping it out of the hands of minors YES.
Soooo.... treat marijuana like cigarettes???
If developers and big oil are backing a candidate, then the 98% that won't benefit should vote for the other guy. Get big money out of politics! Mr. Skorman has been a local small businessman for a long time. Last night's debate showed a lot of differences between the candidates. Don't be swayed by big money "alternative facts". Vote for who will make this city better for you!!!
Mr. Skorman is very honest, forthright, open, transparent and responsive. He does not have to use 527's to hide payment for mystery push polls
As the paper went to press, there was no response to the Independent's inquiry about the mystery poll from Fowler. Compare that to a timely and forthright response from Skorman. Which person do you want representing you on council?
You are so right. Yeah, I get it.."shouldn't go to jail, and jail is supposed to be uncomfortable"..All that BS. First, they WANT you to be malnourished, and weak and underfed.I once lost 15lbs in a week in county jail, the guards are pussies, intimidated and WANT u skinny, weak and easy to physically dominate. Plus 100 percent on point about these private food companies that DELIBERATELY feed SHIT for the required meal, so you will buy top ramen from them for over a dollar a pack (.15 cents in a store). Crooks,Crooks, Crooks.Should be procecuted, and put in jail themselves..See how it feels.Despicable excuses for human beings. Disgusting pieces of slime that don't deserve their own freedom.
I am sorry to tell you that people are changing so much that honestly really nobody knows anyone as well as they think and there are other situations that have happened before all this happened that is not being said by the police. Okay I may not know they parties involved but it sounds like there are lots of things that are and have occured but when a situation takes place it takes actions from both sides for the reactions to occured. I would really appreciate it if you don't blame everything on one person when it takes both parties. A lot of people have done things that nobody knows about and has there deep dark secrets. I am being respectful. There are also many different stories about this whole thing and so it is hard to tell exactly what really happened but to me it sounds like there are a lot of things that are being kept secret about the whole situation. With the video situation the family could have stepped out when they showed the video to the people that were in the court room because I understand that it could really hurt the family but this is just from my point of view. There is a lot that is fishy about this whole case.
This should a shocking story about the abuse of power, but sadly this is our DA's office to a T. They'll take a case of sexual assault and try to ruin someone's life even if there is absolutely no evidence and even the jury agrees that it was ploy to win a custody in a messy divorce. And then will allow documented cases of felony perjury to just skate through the system. The biased nature of our local DA is overwhelmingly obvious. I hope that more stories like this can come to light and the DA office coupled with all of magistrates and judges that add to this local corruption can be brought to task. Instead of realizing this gentlemans purely circumstantial involvement in this case, the DA wasted time and our tax dollars pursuing a unobtainable conviction and feeding the defense lawyers that feed on defending people against these frivolous charges. We as a community need to call for reform. The DA office should be ashamed of this, but it's become so normal, that at this point, the only solution is a change in the administration.
Lol, anyone who thinks it was politicians pointing out the "uncomfortable love affair with addictive behavior in tobacco" knows not what they write about.
I'll bet Fowler is with some anti Marijuana group.
The Jenkin's stadium refuses to drop dead because the dreamers won't wake up. There are numerous stadiums around town that could host the Switchbacks, and building this minor league team a $300M dollar stadium - to be built by taxpayer dollars without taxpayer consent - for the few times the team would play in the stadium is infuriating. What is the matter with Jenkins? Is not the Olympic museum and the parking garage under his skyscraper condo building enough of a carrot to incentivize the development of his 19 or more properties in the area? Furthermore, sports enthusiasts don't go to stadiums to watch their teams - they sit in their Lazy Boys, with a Bud in one hand and turn on the telly with the other.
The mayor is right in saying that there are already far too many URGENT demands being made on taxpayer dollars, such as stormwater and roads and now we learn that the number of police officers needs to be increased to respond to violent crimes. There is NO tax money available to pay for Jenkins dream of a stadium, the purpose of which is to increase the profitability on his 19 or more properties in the area. If Routin wants a stadium, let HIM and others like him donate the $300M dollars needed to build it.
"Let's quit worrying about C4C and start getting basic services in order." Clara's comments are spot on. As are those of Miller and other commenters above. Thanks.
