Re: “Reader: Trump is only playing to his rich constituency

Perhaps liberals may reconsider their choices next time an election rolls around. What is worse than a Democrat president? A lawyer president. A woman lawyer president. In the list of career choices for psychopaths "lawyer" is number 2. If you think Trump is not qualified then consider this:being black is not a qualification nor is being female.
Our legacy is The Constitution and if the writer is so concerned about our legacy then perhaps you all could maybe stop fucking with that document (and The Bill of Rights are a part of it, not simple Amendments as some think.).
I too am a non-rich American, in fact I am below the poverty level. And over 60...

Re: “Archaeological notes on 'Russia'

Speaking of fake news...does this "reporter" live in Washington DC. I assume he does as a recent story he mentioned "an insanely warm winter"- which had nothing to do with the story. I assume it was the global warming scare sentence all these folks are obligated to plant in every story. Fake news indeed.
Ever thought about writing something unbiased and factual? Not in the Indy. We should call it "The Endy" since that is what they think they are forecasting.

Re: “Reader: We know where this destructive administration is headed

China's success is the result of President Richard Nixon's foreign policy. He opened up trade with China to drive a wedge between them and the Soviet Union.

Re: “Reader: We know where this destructive administration is headed

I wonder why then Frank has the BLOTUS has gone bankrupt several times - hmmmm.

Because the supporters of the current administration rage in comments about protests I suspect they also understand the power of protest. This power concerns them.

Re: “UPDATE: Downtown Partnership makes room for more local food trucks

Let the food trucks park in Acacia Park. They would help activate the park.

Socialist/Communist Dogma is dated, you go Bankrupt.

China has overtaken Russia in just 35 years by measuring Performance, NOT Politics.

Re: “UPDATE: Downtown Partnership makes room for more local food trucks

Regulations. Red tape. Bureaucrats and politicians stifling food providers. Fridays - Saturdays - 12 hours. Govt busybody BS! And parking meters belong to the City - not to brick & mortar restaurants - so why do food trucks need to "partner" with them? If food trucks are successful, expect the brick & mortars to put their own food trucks out on the streets. This will be a significant way to "revitalize" downtown. Lots of people don't want to eat at sit-down restaurants. They'd rather grab a quick lunch from a food truck and eat it sitting on a bench or planter provided by the City. Take a lesson from Denver's 16th street mall - close Tejon to vehicles and parking meters and open it to the public and food trucks.

Re: “UPDATE: Downtown Partnership makes room for more local food trucks

This is awesome. I'm especially looking forward to the food trucks downtown. Austin has a busy downtown street they close down on Friday/Saturday nights and have tons of people, bars, and food trucks gathering. I could see this pushing Tejon in that direction.

Re: “Reader: Whose nose is bloodied by climate change?

nice well written letter!! the science deniers and our grabber in chief are set to take us, and the rest of the world, back 20 years. we can't let stupid people make decisions for the rest of us... when profit out weighs the health of our population we are doomed.

Re: “Reader: This is Trump's agenda

Skycastle wrote, "...power over the environment, wildlife, education, and health was never given to the feds..."

curious affirmed, "He's right and all those who disagree with him are wrong."

Then, curious, why do you "thank Trump for nominating - and the Republicans for confirming - Betsy De Vos"? Education is one of the powers you, yourself, say is reserved to the states and forbidden to the federal government. Yet, you are okay with the feds interfering with the states to promote your pet projects, "School vouchers, charter schools, and home schooling..."

That is called a double standard.

"...I, not so brave..."

Don't be so hard on yourself, curious, and don't sell yourself short. You are in this every day and I have never seen you back down. And you are one the few--possibly, the only one here--to consistently admonish anyone engaging in gratuitous name-calling. I say this as someone who is more often in disagreement than agreement with you.

Re: “Reader: This is Trump's agenda

"School vouchers, charter schools, and home schooling are the only means of raising up a generation of freedom loving Americans..." who will gleefully sell that freedom we love so much to Vladimir Putin!

I am only a member of the "ignorant citizenry," but maybe some semi-pro Constitutional scholar can explain to us which article allows Russia, or any foreign power, to choose our president for us.
