God Bless Andrew Wommack Ministries. Andrew Wommack is truly a man of the Lord and the residents of woodland park may not welcome it now but this Bible college will be nothing but a blessing to the people there. I hope to one day be a student at Charis.
One of the great flaws in TABOR and in the TaxedEnoughAlready Party's argument is that there is no consideration for population growth, and no planning for economic downturns that affect the gross economic product of the state economy. This is extremely short-sighted and selfish and is handing our children and their children an infrastructure mess they may not be able to fix. Without a solid infrastructure there can be no solid economic growth, or even modest opportunities for those who will follow us.
It really is sad to watch our City infrastructure deteriorate around us while new construction is going full speed ahead. There is no planning for "fit" within a neighborhood and no investment by the builder for impacts the new structures impose on our already stressed road and utility capacities. Then in another article people wonder how motorists and bicyclists can "share the roads" without resorting to road rage. It is inevitable when the roads are not maintained and everyone is just trying to get from point A to point B safely that the stress of too many cars and cyclists on roads not built for the amount of traffic result in anger and frustration.

To protect the pre-existing right. The Bill of Rights does not grant any rights to people, it recognizes rights we already have and protects them.
"As far as hunting for horns, the meaning was a little unclear - maybe trophy hunting says it better. "
Trophy hunting is a loaded term and is actually says it worse. To most people it invokes visions of people who kill an animal for a symbolic part to display, such as horns or antlers, but then leave the rest of the animal to go to waste. These types of hunters are very uncommon and again, this kind of hunting is often illegal. In reality, many hunters who try to take a really nice buck or bull based on the antlers, use the meat, and keep the antlers as a trophy are considered trophy hunters.
"and those guys aren't interested in the tenderloin. "
Yeah, actually, they are. They are after both the meat and the chance to take an exotic or trophy animal. The meat gets used and usually is divided between the outfitter and the hunter.
"If it were illegal to trophy hunt then all these Boone and Crockett lists would be meaningless."
Again, that will depend on your definition of a trophy hunt. Hunters who get nice B&C animals don't just leave the meat to rot, they use much of the animal.
"I prefer the youngest, tastiest elk I can find, "
So, you prefer to take an elk before it has a chance to contribute to the elk population, removing its genetics from the gene pool, thereby hurting the elk population overall; instead of taking a management bull which is no longer contributing, already passed on its genes, and is merely using up resources. Maybe the management bull isn't as tasty, but as far as ethics go, it is far more ethical to take the management bull than the young elk.
I HATE chip seal! it's hell on bicycle tires, it actually creates more friction and reduces tire life and fuel efficiency, and it's a really poor substitute for doing it right.
I used to ride on the open road in Texas. I've been threatened by excessively close calls, flipped more than one truck driver off, and even got off my bike and prepared to kick butt until the offender decided that he didn't want a piece of me after all. When I rode one particular stretch I actually carried my WWII M1A1 slung across my back...nobody got close on those rides.
Not much will help if you happen to be taken down by a mountain lion (happened recently), but license numbers, formal complaints and, yes, open carry seem to work pretty well.
Any family that never discusses a major domestic issue and thinks it can be shoved under the rug has a problem that isn't political. There is no shame in these things. They happen in any family where humans are present. I am sorry that instead of trying to resolve his family's pain and discontent, Glenn has chosen to shoot the messengers that reminded him of the issue.
Glenn is making a mistake boycotting the debate.
When the Denver Post and other newspapers published accounts of Glenn's arrest and his conflicting responses, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I have since accepted his explanation. I agree with Glenn that domestic violence is a deeply personal matter and that the story was poorly handled by the Post editorial board (Glenn is in good company-- a recent Post editorial criticizing Gov. Hick over a "leaked draft" on some policy proposal was also over the top-- poorly researched, full of suspicion and illogical). The Denver Post somewhat made amends by allowing Glenn to write a guest commentary for the editorial section. You can find Glenn's response on the DP site.
There many pressing issues facing the country, and as an informed voter, I can distinguish between journalistic malpractice and a serious candidate. His choice to boycott the Post and accuse them of a "smear campaign" reflects negatively on his ability to handle a controversy that was partly of his own making.

Perhaps if enough of us come to terms on the idiocy of Douglas Bruce's blatant attempt to destroy Colorado with TABOR we can repeal it.

What happened to the Gazette anyway? I remembered it as a pretty acceptable journalistic effort when I was building in the Springs in the 80's, but we also had two newspapers in Denver, and I really miss the Rocky Mountain News. My parrot doesn't even like the Gazette, and can barely tolerate the Post...
It is the job of the press to report. It you cannot stand the heat or want to read only a controlled press, stay out of the kitchen and grab a copy of the Gazette on the way out.

The mayor failed to say the words - but it was abundantly obvious what he really meant:
"Things are getting better ... FOR DEVELOPERS AND BIG BUSINESS ENTITIES".
Sounds like it was self defense, No indication that it was racially motivated and his mother requested that the video not be released; could be because the video is particularly damning to her son and she didn't want people to see it. I see nothing extraordinary about this situation. I do think that the CSPD should meet the family half way and let at least the his aunt view the footage to put their minds at ease.
Three Words: Protected Bike Lanes. Let's make it happen. It's unreasonable to expect cars, bikes and walkers to share the same strip of space unprotected from one another.
If gun ownership pre-existed the Constitution why did the Founders insist on the 2nd Amendment? Amendments followed the original Constitution, if memory serves. I called it a privilege because it is a privilege to live here. As far as hunting for horns, the meaning was a little unclear - maybe trophy hunting says it better. There are game ranches in Texas where you can pay $2000/day/per gun to hunt trophy whitetail, Blacktail (mule deer to us), elk (yes, elk in Texas - saw the biggest 8x8 bull I've ever seen on my project), as well as numerous exotic species...and those guys aren't interested in the tenderloin. If it were illegal to trophy hunt then all these Boone and Crockett lists would be meaningless. I prefer the youngest, tastiest elk I can find, and I don't shoot deer anymore - ate enough venison in my life, though it does make pretty good chili when mixed 50-50 with pork. I gave you a like because you stimulated conversation, even thou IMHO you were only partially right.
"Local governments do not have the ability to create no fly zones for any aircraft. (The FAA released a Fact Sheet on this very topic)."
Actually the FAA simply says that consultation with the FAA regarding such a ban is recommended, not blanket rule that a city cannot do it.
