Re: “FAC takes a different path

I wonder if Mary T. Barra can actually build an automobile from the ground up? I somehow doubt it. But her acumen of running a multi-billion automotive industry giant was obviously a factor in naming her CEO of General Motors.

David Dahlin’s expertise in helping build Compassion International into the successful and well-respected organization it has become are highly regarded globally. My hunch is the FAC recognized Dahlin’s proven community outreach and fund raising skills, and that being an FAC member or ‘lifelong patron of the arts’ likely were not considered priorities. Sometimes it takes an “outsider” to bring a needed different perspective on how things might be done better.

I have known David for years, and I suspect he will do just fine in his new capacity. Imagine! We had a successful, seasoned, and internationally known exec right here in Colorado Springs who could reinvigorate the FAC and take it to a higher level.

Re: “FAC takes a different path

So they replaced a Mormon who didn't like being at donor events where alcohol was served with an evangelical who has no arts experience? RIP, FAC.

Re: “Welcome to the jungle

Well im glad to see we have a new monitor for our post's. Gee dont know how Ive ever got along with out the heroes of news paper articles telling me how bad my spelling is. Did ya ever think I dont care or maybe I do it just to bug you. If Peekskill was so nice and mellow. Why are you here? Just like a neighbor of mine always talking how great Florida is until I asked him the same. You have every right to be here and speak your mind but I dont get why. If its so wonderful where you were at. Why did you leave? Why dont ya go back? This is my home town Ive left several times in my 60 years but always came back simply because I havent found a better fit for me.

Re: “Save up for a better boyfriend

Amy, I weep in the face of your advice. So pithy, so artfully direct and so blindingly beautiful. Please freeze your eggs so that future generations can partake of your wisdom.

To quote the Bard, "For where is any author in the world, Teaches such beauty as a woman's eye? Learning is but an adjunct to ourselves.

Oh Amy I want to have your children! Can I be a part of your harem? I need a woman like you in my life.

Re: “Welcome to the jungle

It should be............"their side" for Rocky, and MissB, sorry, even though I think CS is a nice place and all, it's not the best place to raise kids and go to school, but then again, where is it?

All I know is, I'm originally from a little city called Peekskill, NY, and it's news if there is even one murder a year, and Peekskill is only 30 minutes from the Bronx. Here in CS, seems like there is a murder, rape or robbery multiple times a day. People out here are out there, I think it's the elevation and drug combination........and yes, I'm being sarcastic.

Re: “Welcome to the jungle

Miss Behaving thats called NEWS without it we have no idea what is going on in our city before they kick your door in or move on to your front lawn. I personally think its a great idea to get the cabbies view. Most times they see it but are not involved where police and others only have one side of the story, there side.

Re: “Welcome to the jungle

My parents moved here because they thought it was a wholesome place to raise their kids and I hope to do the same someday. Why does this paper want to show the seediest side? Let the druggies do what they want in the dark at night, but don't put it in the paper! Who wants to read about dirty, bad smelling homeless people or the "impressive" intellects of drug dealers?!

Re: “Bach's final, or finest, hour?

I can not wait until Bach moves on. He is a lying corrupt mayor who's main interests is to help his developer buddies to increase their financial gain and influence which eventually will trickle down to Bach and buddies. He is not an ethical or trust worthy person. He does not seem focused on the economy or job growth. The reason we are not growing our economy is because our reputation . There is a lot of dysfunction, lack of trust, monetary waste. We live in a beautiful city, unfortunately our reputation is very negative and dysfunctional. Bach needs to put the needs of the citizens and our city before padding Jenkins and other developer's pockets.

Re: “Bach's final, or finest, hour?

Always fun to watch all the term-limited, less government Republicans who don't want to leave the government trough squabble over who is going to get which job.

As for MacArthur, he was the same imperious so-and-so who had no qualms about shooting at unarmed WWI veterans during the 1932 Bonus March, chasing their wives and children and burning out their tent camp. Hardly a model for democratic government.

John actually makes my case that COLO SPGS and El Paso County should be ONE jurisdiction, with one set of elected officials, one property tax rate, one sales tax rate, one school district, and one plan for growth, infrastructure and public services.

Eh, yer kidding right? Suthers? Old win at all costs, fuck the rules, John the Koch 'ho Suthers?

Suthers is just cleverer at slinking about in the shadows then "bang the help" Terry, he's smart enough to not leave any thing more then a trail of slime that you can only see when the light hits it right.

Suthers, yeah, that's the ticket......twit!

Re: “How to bring down Maketa

BREAKING NEWS - Travel documents show El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa spent thousands of dollars of public money to travel to law enforcement conferences with female subordinates with whom he is accused of having sexual affairs.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports records show trips to Nevada and Florida, to Breckenridge, Colorado, and elsewhere with the female employees.

Maketa traveled at least 17 times with the female employees. The records show 14 of the trips cost a total of more than $10,000.

Colorado prisons director Tom Clements was killed during the most recent trip, in March 2013. Travel documents show Maketa stayed in Las Vegas for three more days.

Maketa has apologized to employees but says he will not resign. He is accused of discrimination, budget improprieties and a hostile work environment.

Forget resignation and recall. We are past that. Its jail time for the shirtless sheriff.

Re: “When a car thief gets too cocky

Too bad Chipotle Mexican Grill (and Foer) forgot to include any Mexican Americans or Latinos in its new Cultivating Thought campaign.

Certainly Chipotle depends on the Mexican culture to inspire its cuisine - and profits off the labor force that is in no small way Latino - from "farm to face" - in the fields, in the kitchens and behind the counters.

Check out our FB page: Cultivating Invisibility: Chipotle's Missing Mexicans.

You can only buy food with food-stamps, thanks to UPC codes. Point-of-sale systems are programmed to run separate totals for eligible purchases and ineligible products, and the food-card will only pay for eligible products.

Forget about the dalliances with his female staff, I'm more interested in knowing if the sheriff office finances have been misappropriated.
